Product description
Synopsis
Filled with explosive new information, this is the definitive inside story of the case that captivated the nation and the verdict that no one saw coming It was the trial that stunned America, the verdict that shocked us all. On July 5, 2011, nearly three years after her initial arrest, Casey Anthony walked away, virtually scot-free, from one of the most sensational murder trials of all time. She'd been accused of killing her daughter, Caylee, but the trial only left behind more questions: Was she actually innocent? What really happened to Caylee? Was this what justice really looked like? In Imperfect Justice, prosecutor Jeff Ashton, one of the principal players in the case's drama, sheds light on those questions and much more, telling the behind-the-scenes story of the investigation, the trial, and the now-infamous verdict. Providing an inside account of the case, Ashton, a career prosecutor for the state of Florida, goes where the press and pundits have only speculated, detailing what really happened during the investigation, showing how the prosecution built their case, and explaining how a woman so shrouded in suspicion was proclaimed innocent. Moving beyond the simple explanations, Ashton offers an in-depth look at the complex figure of Casey Anthony, a woman whose lies he spent three years trying to understand. And yet this focus on Casey came with its own risks; here he details how this widespread fixation on Casey-both in the media and in the trial-may have undermined the case itself. As everyone got caught up in the quest to understand the supposed villain, somehow the victim, Caylee, was all but forgotten-not just to the public, but more important, to the jury. Complete with never-before-revealed information about the case and the accused, Ashton examines what the prosecution got right, what they got wrong, and why he remains completely convinced of Casey Anthony's guilt.

Review For: Imperfect Justice : Prosecuting Casey Anthony by Jeff Ashton (2011, Hardcover)

First of all,let me start by saying I live in Florida and I adore Jeff Ashton. He is the real thing. I have just began this book, but can't put it down for more than a few minutes...already so many behind the scenes things(crap)about Casey Anthony that was not allowed to be released to the public. Just today heard even more damning news of her computer searches that even Ashton didn't know until now..it could have changed the verdict--possibly,IMHO. Great book,I highly recommend it.Even tho I followed little Caley's heartbreaking story every single day,am still learning more.R.I.P. sweet baby girl. Thank you Jeff Ashton for not losing sight of that precious child like Hose (defense) did! God Bless you,you are a good man. That jury (IMO) was in a hurry to go home,or just lost sight of what the trial was all about--the baby. Everything was switched and pointed to the 'dad'.That is why Casey is walking free...but only on this earth. Her true judgement day will come....

Review For: Imperfect Justice : Prosecuting Casey Anthony by Jeff Ashton (2011, Hardcover)

A very interesting account of the Casey Anthony prosecution told by the lead prosecuting attorney. It was interesting to try and figure out how a jury could have aqquitted her. Would recommend it to anyone.

Review For: Imperfect Justice : Prosecuting Casey Anthony by Jeff Ashton (2011, Hardcover)

This book tells the side of the prosecution.
It tells of the trials, the way they conducted themselves.
Once you start reading the book it is hard to put it down.
Highly recommended for anybody studying or interested in criminology and the justice system.
The amount of investigation that had to be done after such a long period of time.
I would buy another book like this from this author.
Buy the book you will not be disappointed.

Review For: Imperfect Justice : Prosecuting Casey Anthony by Jeff Ashton (2011, Hardcover)

I followed the trial like a bloodhound, so this was by way of a review for me. All of the information pertaining to the jury selections and performance was revelatory and helped me understand why we got such an absurd verdict. This is written in an intimate style and enjoyably conversational. I would recommend it to anyone interested in why this case went so wrong.

Review For: Imperfect Justice : Prosecuting Casey Anthony by Jeff Ashton (2011, Hardcover)

Followed the case from beginng to end, jury was picked from county I live in, so was interested in Jeff Ashton's review of the trial. I liked reading about his thoughts and actions regarding evidence. I never thought the jury would vote for the death penalty, and don't understand why the prosecution didn't work harder to get a guilty verdict for child negect/endangerment. I haven't read any other books on this case. I'm not interested in tabloid newspapers, magazines or television shows about the case. Nor am I interested in anything said by the mother, who is an admitted liar.
