The Hunley - highly viewable American maritime and civil war history

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

It wasn't until I visited Charleston a few months ago that I became interested in the Hunley and its history. I had heard of it but couldn't really imagine what a civil-war era submarine could possibly be capable of. I was in for a surprise, but it was still hard for me to visualize. That's where this movie filled in the gaps.

This movie was historically faithful to the Hunley, Charleston and the war; its theory about the cause of the Hunley's demise jives with the most currently prevalent premise. It was well-acted and fast-moving, even having its small moments of comic relief. The ending was necessarily speculative; I also appreciated the attempt to put the viewer at peace about the lives of the submariners who were lost.
