I have owned a lot of bows. Up until I decided to go with the Alphaburner my favorites where the Mathews Switchback xt and a Darton Maverick I once had. I was torn between the maxis 31 or the Crx. I am really glad I went with this one. Very fast but unlike most speed bows forgiving and accurate. The draw took a little to get used to because there really isn't much of a wall and when it's fully drawn back it is ready go, almost feels like its going to take off until you get use to it, but once you do you realize the draw is one of the features that make it superior in my opinion. Excellent quality, beautiful bow but then again it is a Hoyt. Wasn't crazy about the fuse string and heard some people say they weren't great but since then they have gotten a lot better. The only reason I say this I almost broke the string in half when installing a peep. This has never happened to me before but most likely it was my fault in the first place. I went with the all camo realtree apg and really like it but I do love the black with camo limbs. Bow sells for a mint in a bow shop but can be found quite a bit cheaper on ebay. Go with the Hoyt and you wont be disappointed!

A good choice for a speed bow.

This bow is a speed machine. I love the way it looks and the grip is perfect. It is very accurate and shoots flat past 35 yards. I own or owned several bows including "82 Airborne" "Gameover" "Carnage" "Reezen 6.5" "Monster xlr8" "Bear Attack" and I like the Alpha more than the all of them except one. The Alpha is faster and easier to draw than all of the others except the Monster. The only bow I like better than the Alpha is the Bear Carnage because it is lighter and easier to draw with no vibration. The Alpha is slightly faster than the Carnage but much harder to draw and has more vibration and noise. Over all a good choice for large game, I think the Alpha would punch a hole thru a moose at 40 yards.

1 of the best bows I have ever shot.

Purchased the Alpha Burner because I had an opportunity to be a staff shooter for a local archery shop and I knew that Hoyt unfortunatly took forever to get a shooter their bow. I love the bow, for a "speed bow" it seems to be very forgiving, it is much smoother to draw than I anticipated, and has no hand shock or vibration upon release. It is a shorter axle to axle bow than I am used to but it holds and aims very well. It is one of the best bows I have ever shot, and I have shot many. I actually have two burners now and love them both, will hunt with one and shoot 3ds w/the other. I would reccomend to anyone who has some experience shooting, the short brace height may not be the best for a beginner. The only thing that even slightly dissappointed me was that I did not get the speed that I was hoping for, but at 27 inch draw and 50lbs 290's are pretty good. Do not let anone scare you away from this bow, people tried to tell me it was hard to shoot and not forgiving- absolutely untrue. Buy it and you will not be dissappointed.

Hoyt Maxxis 31!!!

Love it! Decided to buy it because I was still shooting an 11 year old bow... The technology has passed it by a long time ago! This bow is a TACK DRIVER! Took my first buck with it on 10/29/10. DROPPED IN HIS TRACKS. Also, turned the poundage down to 65 and it is still shooting 292fps with a 400gpi arrow and 100grain point. Also...for the first time in 11 years of archery, I ROBIN HOODED an arrow...yes, shot one, at bullseye, then shot another that went INSIDE the first arrow. ENOUGH SAID!!!!!
