Always reliable. Store it properly and you will have no problems. Extended fuel tanks and a companion unit, does my house just fine when the power company has too many outages to keep up with. A sub panel isolating a few breakers makes it safe and legal. Many states, its against the law to use extension cords.
The eu2000i is versatile and well made. I only use them when the power goes out and keep them ready to go, testing at times to make sure there up to snuff.
Easy to start. Good when they work. Lousy reliability. I bought the base and companion units. The base unit stopped producing AC after 5 months due to a known wiring problem-although registered, Honda did not notify me. The unit was repaired under warranty but took almost a month to get the needed part. The companion unit developed carburetor problems due to no fuel filter. A new, clean gasoline container and fresh gasoline is not good enough. The repair was not covered by the warranty and cost $173. All written instructions from Honda and advice from the selling dealership was followed. Regular service was performed and gasoline was not allow to stagnate in the units. When they are working they are quiet, compact, portable for able bodied people and easy to start. However, for $2,300 and complete failure from both units within six months, I can not recommend the Honda generators.
I bought the Honda 2000 on the advise of my cousin who has one. My area loses power most every year during the winter months. Last year we had an ice storm that caused us to lose power for 4 1/2 days. No fan for my furnace, so it was cold. Food in the freezers staring to thaw. I decided this winter I'd be ready. I love the fact that it is so quiet and is very economical. My sister used her daughters generator during the ice storm and it was extremely loud, plus it used almost 4 gallons of gas in 9 hours. My cousin, with his Honda, used 1 gallon in 9 hours. Big difference. The only thing I can say I dislike is that it's kind of heavy for a 65 year old woman to move around, but I've mounted it on a dolly and that works quite well. Would I buy another one, yes or I wouldn't have bought the this one.
Great little unit! It is perfect for taking to the airfield and vacuuming and polishing my airplane. Clean, quiet, very easy to start, and it looks good! I can see myself finding many more uses for it.
The Honda generator I purchased was barely used and runs as smooth as,glass I would recommend this generator to anyone needing a little power anywhere they go
