Well written series. I could easily overdose on all the seasons in one setting, but I control myself by watching only 2 episodes a day. You need to see the entire seasons to really get the full flavor of the actors and their inter-personal relationships at work. The story line is so captivating, that you learn to like, dislike or love the characters and their inter-personal work relationships. I love the way the Homicide looks at the crime, solving a crime and the detectives lives away from the job without turning the series into a sappy day-time soap.
if you are a police show fan, like nypd blue, hill street blues,or csi. then you definately need to give this show a chance. the characters are well based, and expertly portrayed. i love police drama's, and homicide life on the streets definately fills the bill for action, character persona's, and a healthy dose of what it means to be a human being at the end of the day.i hope i have given some insight on the show, and i hope i have stirred some interests in it. happy viewing......tim
My husband and I are both from Baltimore and had read the David Simon book after its release. When this series came out, we were avid fans. So it was wth great pleasure that we found our oldest son had discovered the re-runs of the program. This set was purchased for him as a gift so that the tradition would carry on for a while longer.
I am a big fan of the series. One of the best if the not the best police series ever made. By the same writer and about the same city as the Wire i,e, Baltimore. The characters are brilliant and the series is completely addictive to me at least. Not available in the shops anymore so the chance to buy on ebay is great when I've got the money I'll be looking for season 5.
This is honestly a "too good to miss" TV show! The acting and writing are both superb! I'm just sorry that I didn't watch it during the time that it was on. To think that "Nash Bridges" beat this show in its time slot is a disgrace! Oh well, check out the ENTIRE series! It's gritty and powerful!
