Product description
Product Information
The year is 2027. The world has suffered a decade-long energy crisis, and economies have crumbled. Reduced to a mere shadow of the super power it once was, the United States became the target of a North Korean takeover. American malls, suburbs and city streets are now battlegrounds as the civilian resistance fights for freedom. Featuring a compelling single player story crafted by John Milius (Apocalypse Now, Red Dawn), Homefront immerses gamers in an interactive and cinematic FPS experience where they will assume an infantry role or take command of a wide variety of aerial and ground vehicles. In addition to the single-player experience, Homefront will deliver a robust multiplayer experience. In a land stripped of freedom, the brave will fight for their home.

If Call of Duty and Battlefield had a baby...

This would be the lovechild of two of the best FPS franchises to date. I'll briefly explain how it is similar (in good and bad ways) to both games.

Call of Duty: First and foremost, the control scheme is practically identical to Call of Duty. The only exception I can think of at the moment is the D-Pad, which is used primarily for buying items. Sprint is unlimited in this game, but I find it to be a good thing, as the maps are much bigger than CODs. There is also a high amount of customization in Homefront, though not quite as much as COD. On a final similarity, you start with a few premade classes that let you preview weapons, attachments, and "killstreak" items that are unlocked later as you level up via online play.

Battlefield: This game shares a few more similarities with Battlefield. As previously mentioned, the maps are pretty big, and comparable to maps from Bad Company. The graphics are a little jerkier than COD, as Battlefield's graphics were. There is no more bullet drop, however. So if you're a longtime Battlefield fan, it may take you a while to learn to aim directly with a sniper rifle again. Also previously mentioned, there are quite a few vehicles again. From RC recon/tank/helicopters, to real helicopters/tanks/armored trucks, there's enough variation to keep things interesting. One thing I'd like to complain about is that jets seem to keep getting left out of these games, since Battlefield 2. Why?!

Instead of killstreaks, you are rewarded with points for every assist and kill you obtain. You are also awarded bonus points for things like melee kills, vehicle kills, revenge, etc. You spend these points to buy everything from rocket launchers, to drones (more similar to Battlefield's RC vehicles than COD's) and helicopters. You can even choose to create armored transports and tanks when you spawn, or spawn as a gunner in an available vehicle piloted by an ally.

There are only two main gametypes: Ground Control, and Team Deathmatch. In Ground Control, your team attempts to capture and hold three objectives, while your opponents are competing for control of the same objectives. Team Deathmatch is pretty self-explanatory. These gametypes are furthered by "Commander" variations of each. The gametypes are played the same, with one exception: Everyone starts with no class bonuses (such as faster reloading, etc). Instead, bonuses are rewarded based on killstreaks. So if you kill 3 people in a row, for example, you gain a bonus until you die. If you kill a few more in a row, you get a second bonus. This continues until you've received 5 bonuses. However, with each bonus you receive, you also receive a star. This star is your "Threat Level", and with each threat level, a few of your opponents are given a bounty on you. What this means is they are given the general location you are in, and bonus cash if they manage to take you out. Keep in mind that you have your bonuses to help keep you alive though. Overall, an entertaining sub-type.

Unlike Battlefield, you can't spawn at captured bases. Instead, spawning consists of choosing a class, then getting dropped on one side of the objectives while your opponents are spawned on the opposite side. One good thing about spawning is you receive a temporary aerial view, complete with everyones name being shown, to give you an idea of where to go. This happens for a few seconds until you drop to ground level, and take control of your character.

I still play it, just not all night.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This came complete with all your typical first person shooter features, however the story line is what helps set it apart. Combat right here in the USA. The graphics are very sharp, not the best but sharp. Looks a little better than Rainbow 6 Vegas. I play in 1080p. The sound effects were very good too. The enviroment is explosive, but not destructible. The game forces you on a specific path and its narrow to get through campaign. The weapons are fairly limited, as is the ammunition, with some all time favorites in every category. You dont often have options on what you will use during game as weapons, most the time you have to get better off the ground. The game seem to lack alot of depth. Its still great to play . The AI are fast to kill and the campaign is a challenge.
The online is face paced and fun. You level up pretty fast, with in game upgrades you can get with battle points earned during the round. They add up fast too. All the boards look like average american town places. It is very strange and fun.
This is worth a look at twenty or less. I would put Vegas 2 as a better game, but this rate with Vegas one due to story and fresh boards.

The game is a bit over the average. Great Campaign + Great Multiplayer! :)

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This game is absolutely astonishing! Here is a quick summary of what I think of the game so far.

    Graphics - 3/5:
"2007 anyone? Because that is where the graphics of this game come from. The guns look kinda pretty and some environments have stunning texture but the occasional rendering failure and outdated model systems are not really striking and kind of outdated."

    Gameplay - 5/5:
The gameplay is the best piece of the game. The gameplay involves control and AI strength. Everything matches together in great chemistry and the game works the way it should.

    Storyline - 5/5:
The story line could never be better! It follows Korean war against the United States Americans where the KPA (Korean People's Army) are killing civilians and as a former USMC pilot you must fight with freedom fighter brothers and sisters to survive.

    Sound - 3/5:
The sounds were nothing special and undoubtfully forgetable. Nothing seemed to impress me and things seems to be average as other FPS games of the time. Grenades and shooting didn't have the destinctive pleasurable sound effect that gave the game definition. Although, I will not say the game lacked good sound, everything matched and was on time, and the sound was there!

    Multiplayer - 5/5:
Multiplayer can never get better in my opinion. There are 32-player battles that take place all the time. The dedicated servers almost never lag and you will find the unique "Battle-point" system very useful and exciting. Just like in most FPS games there is a limitable loadout customization, although the XP ranking up system is extremely fun and makes the game worth it. The ranks go higher than every Call of Duty title, so there is no finishing your leveling early!
    --------------------------------------------------------------
OVERALL RATING: 4.2/5 = Great Game (Worth the money!)

    LOVE IT

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Homefront is a fine game if you give it a chance. The graphics and sound,( voice acting in particular) are poor compared to bombs like BFBC2 or KZ3, and the capaign is shockingly short. I find the excellent multiplayer makes up for this though - once the controls sink in and you begin to adapt to the shoddy graphics there is a lot of fun to be had here. And no, its nothing like COD. Comparing games like BFBC2 and Homefront to COD is akin to comparing Gran Tourismo to Ridge Racer...HF is a squad based game, if you run around by yourself like a headless chicken hunting for kills you will be dead continuosly. Over HF does a great job in recreating large scale battles in a (somewhat) fresh environment, 32 players on a map is something we dont see too much of on console, vehicular combat, drones etc are easy to control and offer a satisfying experience regardless of skill level.

    Best plot of any game!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This game is amazing. For anyone who has seen the old movie " Red Dawn", this is a must have. You are a freedom fighter after a communist takeover in America. Playgrounds and city streets are turned into battlefields. The graphics are good and the plot/story line is great. It is all very realistic.I personally like this game more than the modern warfare call of duty series. There are some parts that are disturbing.(Parents getting mowed down in front of their children)You really get into the game after those scenes. I could play this way longer than I could COD without getting bored
