Russell Mulcahy's original saga of immortal Scotsman Connor Macleod, one of a race of immortals who can only be killed when beheaded with a sword. After living in peace for four centuries, he is challenged by an old enemy named Kurgan. During a fierce sword battle in the 1500s, Connor MacLeod, a simple Scotsman known as a poor fighter, is mortally wounded -- but he does not die. MacLeod learns from the mysterious Ramirez that he is of a race of immortals. These rare knights never age and never reproduce, they can only meet death by the blade of another of their kind. Leaping back and forth through the centuries, MacLeod once again meets the evil Kurgan who nearly killed him 500 years ago.
Russell Mulcahy's original saga of immortal Scotsman Connor Macleod is updated in this 10th anniversary director's cut featuring never-before-seen footage, the original trailer and commentary by Mulcahy and the film's producers and cast members.
Yes, this is the best Highlander version out there. What a cool thought to be an immortal, never die-HMMMMMMM.........but who wants to live forever.
This movie shows many sides of this dilemma. Accumulating wealth over the years, not aging & of course not dying-thats good!!! :) But then you must watch all your friends & loved ones get old & die-not so good!!! :( Then of course you have the other immortals that want to chop off you head.....UH oh!!
Christopher Lambert has such deep, brooding eyes-he's perfect as Connor Macleod, the Highlander. Eventhough Sean Connery has a short part in this film his performance is outstanding and powerful. Clancy Brown who plays the wickedly evil Kurgan will surely FREAK you out!! And to top it off Queen does an awsome job with the soundtrack.
Simply put-his is one of my all time favorite films!! DON"T BOTHER TO RENT THIS AT BLOCKBUSTER-JUST BUY IT-Its a KEEPER!!!!
There can be only one & this is it!!
The saga of the immortals continue - During a sword battle iConnor MacLeod is wooded - he learns from Ramirez that he is of a race of immortals. These knights never age and never reproduce, they can only meet death by the blade of another of their kind. The battle continues - it is good.
This is the story of a sword weilding Scottsman who happens to be immortal (unless one of his peers happens to cut off his head). This movie travels back in forth through time, from the 1500's to the mid 1980's. The main character is part of an elite race that is in a quest for immortality...They must kill each other (by chopping off thier heads), because "there can be only one".
This is a fun movie, good characters, evil characters, a little romance, but not too much. A lot of sword fighting, and some really memorable scenes...The epic battle between the evil Kurgan and the Sean Connery character is terrific, the duel on Boston Common is really funny, and the field battle in 16th century Scottland is poor man's version of what we saw in Braveheart.
This is the original that spawned awful sequels, tv shows, etc, but this one is worthy.
