The Movie was a great lift for the sport...even though I, personally, would have liked a lot less of Conrad Kalitta. There was so much to tell that didn't include him, that they should absolutely take up where they left off and produce another film. My son, John, was instrumental in helping me win my 4 World Championships...even though he never really got the credit that he deserved. It's really funny how Kalitta goes around town telling people that "Hollywood made a movie about me" Well, if you want the truth...and I was there for the whole story...he had better pray that they don't make a movie about what he really is all about. Shocking!
I plan to write a biography and hopefully, put a deal together that would let me go back to the driver's seat for just 10 events a year. I don't need to compete for another Championship chase as I now have nothing more to prove. I just hate the easy road that now the sport has created by turning the series into a "countdown" program. It mimicks NASCAR and Drag Racing doesn't need to do that as it can stand on its own. Let the new drivers do it the hard way...like we legends were forced to do. It would really tickle me to simply drive a wedge into that "Countdown" series at the end of the season.
The people I met in Hollywood were mostly a great bunch of folks...especially Jonathan Kaplan the Movie Producer. Thanks, Shirley
I love this movie. It's not a fast starter, but if you enjoy Drag Racing and the history of Drag Racing, this would be a great movie to add to your collection. The story of Shirley Muldowney is full of heart break, triumph, and also sadness. Her relationship with Connie Kalita is the main focus of the movie, it goes into a lot of detail about how they started and how they finished. Again this is a great movie that I highly enjoy watching, a must own for any Drag Racing fan.
Heart Like a Wheel is a great drag racing movie giving the vewier insight in to the lives of the characters that you can still watch at the National events today. This particular CD was a NHRA authorized edition and has a segment included with Shirley, Connie, and Don Garlitz bench racing and talking about the good old days.
Bonnie Badelia and Beau Bridges did a great job.
I give it a 10.
Shirley Muldowney's Drag racing career! This is a great movie! If you like Drag racing or any kind of racing this is an excellent movie! Family oriented! World's Fastest Indian is another excellent movie to watch!
I am a female drag racer and was very interested in Shirley Muldowney's story so I bought the movie. I really enjoyed it but I wish there was more of her life story in the movie. It was still really great though.
