Design, power, battery life, qwerty keyboards, all pluses for G2 !!!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Yes, I was hooked on Android from the beginning and since I owned T-mobile G1 in the past, I was more than ready to test T-Mobile HTC G2. I wasn't so exited about the new 4G thing, I like the speed - don't get me wrong, but I was more curious about improvements on camera aspect, how display behaves on the sun, how QWERTY keyboard works and how fast this phone really is. I was nicely surprised about everything that I mentioned except the one thing...

Design of the phone is great, I still love it. For me, HTC has best designed phones on the market, but this is my taste you have probably different opinion on design, after Google Nexus one this was my 2nd good looking phone so far. It's elegant, minimal, futuristic and simple. LCD screen is big enough for physical keyboard phone, it's bright and responding well on touch. I didn't have big complains when I used it outside on strong sun, I was able to see screen and I didn't even use the brightest option. I can't remember that I saw this phone in any other color, but this metal/silver plastic combination is always good and neutral, for me phone looks like Nexus one with physical keyboard. After all, you can change the look of the housing with colored cover every day.

HTC G2Multimedia. Equipped with a big screen and nice snappy CPU, G2 is strong enough to play your all FLASH content, videos, games and other apps that you may want on your phone. I was somehow satisfied with installed music player but I would recommend Win Amp for better comfort and usability. Sound-speaker is very loud, maybe even to loud for the phone speakerphone and I have had to reduce it or speaker may get busted. I was satisfied with the video and audio quality, video is sharp and audio sounds good even on included OEM headset, but if you want to great some bass, get some better ear-buds.

QWERTY keyboard was my only disappointment. I'm not taking about how easy or hard is to slide the keyboard, you'll learn that, I'm talking about how you need to press ALT before you can type any number. Numbers are not included as separate keys, and that was one of the greatest things on G1 model. I was really able to use G1 to write some long texts and emails, with G2 it's not easy as I would wish. But, HTC G2 QWERTY keyboardthere is one little helper called Swype. With Swype, typing on screen touch keyboard becomes very easy, all you need to do is to learn basics and you're ready to go. Also, if you don't type numbers often, physical keyboard could be prefect for you.

Software: To be honest, this was probably my first phone where I didn't mind installed T-mobile software and original stock ROM, phone is fast enough and battery is strong enough for one full day of regular use and abuse, all good straight from the box. If you like to type, this could be one perfect phone for you and it was for me, but I wanted to try Cyanogenmod so I rooted my G2. I did it just because I wanted to test Android 2.3. It was worth it, since all T-Mobile software was eliminated, phone became even faster and I enjoyed latest version of Android through Cyanogenmod. The only thing that I missed was Swype, but I heard that there is a workaround to get Swype back on Cyanogenmod.

HTC G2 back viewCamera is sold good, I don't think that it's better than Nexus One's camera, but it will do the job correctly and efficiently.

Best smartphone value for the money.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

The only phone from any carrier any better then
this phone is this phone's successor, the T-Mobile
HTC MyTouch 4G Slide. It has the additional 1900
data band that AT&T uses. Not in use by T-Mobile
at this time, but by next year it will be and it
will give T-Mobile users greater 4G data coverage.
It also has an 8 megapixel camera vs a 5 megapixel
for the G2. That's really about it. The G2 comes
with Android 2.2 and the 4G Slide with 2.3. The
only important feature difference is that 2.3 has
wifi calling in addition to wifi data connection.
But the phone has FOTA updates, firmware over the
air. So with your SIM card in the G2 T-Mobile will
update it to Android 2.3, the latest version until
about 2 weeks ago when 4.0 came out. But with the
wifi calling you'll have everything you need. I
was with AT&T since 1999 and never had a smart
phone. All 3 other carriers are too expensive.
For a smartphone with unlimited talk, text & web,
plus the G2 has the wifi mobile hotspot feature for a tablet to connect through so that you don't
need a separate plan for your tablet, AT&T, Sprint
& Verizon are all $140.00/month. That's insane.
T-Mobile made it possible for me to have a smart
phone. The wifi calling that only they offer is
the solution to poor reception in your home. My
brother lives in a building that blocks almost all
of the reception. It's not the location because in
the parking lot it has full signal. So when I walk
into my brother's apt. my phone automatically
switches to his wifi connection and my calls go
through his cable internet. To do this with any
other carrier is much more complicated. T-Mobile
gives you exclusive features like this and is half
the price of the other carriers. They're the only
ones to offer 3 different types of plans. All 4
companies have regular and pre-paid plans. But
the prepaid plans don't offer the wifi features
or even 411 service. T-Mobile offers value plans.
The other 3 carriers will give you a free phone
with a 2 year contract. So will T-Mobile, and what
is $140.00/month elsewhere is $89.99 at T-Mobile.
But with the other 3 carriers if you use your own
phone, like 1 you bought on eBay, you aren't
getting any discount at all. T-Mobile's value plans give you the discount on the monthly service
rather then the classic plans that give you the
discount on the phone. $20.00/month less. That's
$480.00 over a 2 year contract. So obviously it's
much better to buy the phone on eBay & save the
$20.00/month. Only T-Mobile & Sprint offer the
unlimited data. Sprint is $109.99 plus $29.99 for
the wifi mobile hotspot(you need a phone with the
feature like the G2). T-Mobile's value plans give
you unlimited data, they offer different levels of
4G data, but you never have an overage charge, It
slows down to 2G if you use up your 3G/4G. I've
never even come close to my 4G limit. For $59.99
you can get unlimited everything with 2 GB of 4G
plus $9.99, not $29.99 for the mobile hotspot, also
called wifi tethering. So $70.00 vs 140. But right now T-Mobile is offering the 5 GB 4G plan
for $74.99. It includes the mobile hotspot and
10 GB of cloud service on your T-Mobile account
which stores your data on their server so you can
access it from any phone or computer. More then
twice the data for 5 bucks more. Literally half
the price of the others. I hate the iPhone. I can't dial without the slideout keypad, can't access battery, no memory card. HTC, Android &
T-Mobile.

good cell phone camera everything works perfect

No, I would not recommend this product.

good cell phone camera everything works perfectT-Mobile has been teasing everyone about its forthcoming HSPA+ smartphone since July, and finally made good on the taunts. T-Mobile calls the HTC G2 a successor to the HTC G1, which was the first Android phone to hit the market. Its biggest feature is compatibility with T-Mobile's HSPA+ data network, which can hit download speeds up to 21Mbps. The G2 is a sideways slider, which has a trick, Z-style hinge to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard for typing. The G2 will also have Swype's predictive text entry software for use with the virtual keyboard on the screen. Other hardware features include an 800MHz Snapdragon processor (which HTC has been heavily optimized for better battery life), support for 32GB microSD cards, 3.5mm headset jack, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.

HTC G2 Tmobile very nice package, excellent keyboard!!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

The main reason for the purchase was to have the most current model phone without needing to have a contract.Cell phone service providers love to have the 2 year deal and give the phone away. This phone is excellent, well built and does everything I need it to do.This phone has more features than I will ever use,but being 60 years old,
I also don't walk into walls staring at my phone when not sleeping. All in all, very nice clear screen, qwerty keyboard is excellent, battery life is very good and I will use this phone as long as I can.If this phone lasts 2 years and breaks I would seek to buy another.

This is a fantastic phone, I'd highly recommend it :]

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I was desperately in need of a new phone (my old one just died on me) so I went on a search for a decent, but affordable, replacement and found this phone. The physical keyboard is ridiculously easy to use and it makes texting/surfing the web a piece of cake. The battery life isn't great, but that seems to be the case with most Android phones unfortunately. Other than the battery life I love it!
