The first attraction about this phone was the screen size as I love the multimedia/functionality mix of smartphones. I own an iPhone 3GS. I love the outward design of this phone especially the touch back home and search keys.
However, I have been trying very hard to understand the motivation behind HTC tile display on the screen. A friend has an HD2 which made me think twice about HTC otherwise I would not have looked at this phone. The HD2 has a better layout, I might be biased due to the iPhone addiction. However, the HD7 would have been better with an HD2 type screen layout. The tile system makes this phone look cheap and basic. The tile system has no wow factor makes the phone flat. The options for changing the theme are also rather disappointing as this limited to just changing the background between a white and black and also the option from changing the font colour and the colour of the tiles.
The camera defaults to 5MP although there are options to change the resolution depending on the use. However, the camera has a flaw in that white or bright white images are given a lemony tinge when the picture is taken.
I do not know why the Zune software is so big. I downloaded 120MB only to be asked to download over 200MB. It is ok for one with fast connection. But other solutions for other phones like iTunes are under 100MB. Since this is a Windows Phone I thought there was seamless connectivity to Outlook. I expected to simply sync my contacts from Outlook to this phone but alas, unless through Windows Live. By the way if you do not have a windows live ID you can not install the cool free apps.
I liked the fact that I can not only view my MSOffice attachments but I can also create them or edit them right on the phone. This is a plus. However, other features like the extremely huge font makes the phone look like it has a virus which is disturbing the font. I do not understand why such a high-end phone has been made so simple. This is evident when one selects People tile. In my case I had both Win Live and Facebook but the display was rather untidy.
The huge 4.3" screen and the 1GHz processor has a marked effect on the battery life. Using the phone for what its designed hurriedly deplete the battery. So this is not the phone for those expecting a couple of days of battery life.
Memory space is not an HTC strength it would seem. I failed to understand why such a phone which also records 720p video could be given only 16GB max storage internal! What was HTC thinking?
The phone has a cool FM radio functionality which I enjoyed using. Other functionality include the ability to remotely control the phone from WindowsPhone Live with handy tools such as erasing the phone remotely, making it ring with a special tone and making it display a message. This is cool and innovative.
The big 4.3” high resolution screen gives an epic cinematic experience. Just flip out the kickstand, kick back and catch all the magic of your favorite movies and videos.
Gaming anytime, anywhere

Make your own movies in HD
The HTC HD7 comes with an 720p HD camcorder which allows you to capture film with incredible quality and detail. It’s ideal for turning your friends and familThe screen that just keeps on going meets the OS that refuses to fit on a single display. Yes, Microsoft's Windows Phone 7, like Windows Mobile 6.5 and Android before it, is getting treated with a 4.3-inch display from HTC for its launch party. The aptly titled HD7 is, by virtue of Microsoft's stringent hardware requirements, mostly just a stretched-out version of its WP7 contemporaries: it offers the standard 800 x 480 res, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon, 576MB of RAM, and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with a 720p movie mode. So what sets it apart? HTC will have you believe its Hub enhances the buttery smooth WP7 software, while outside the shell there's a handy kickstand for landscape lounging and you do of course benefit from an enlarged canvas for your finger inputs. Join us after the break to discover how much that matters in day-to-day use, along with the rest of our thoughts on the HTC HD7.
I've had this phone for a few days now and so far I am satisfied with my purchase.
Window Phone 7 is a good operating system and I am looking forwards to it's growth in the months to come. Emailing, web browsing, SMS, calendar are great plus the office mobile is a nice extra. The third party games are amazing and the I've found some very useful app and I am sure to find more as the marketplace expands. The software also runs very nicely and I have yet to experience a slowdown or something of the sort. The Zune software is also great and easy to use.
As for the HD7 hardware, this is where I have my real issues. The battery is weak, with moderate usage, it'll last through about half a day (though I am usually in the office so I just plug it in to charge up) and the physical buttons can be tough to properly press the first time around (You get used to it though and eventually are able to press the button once for an action). The screen is large and easy to read though I feel the colors could be better. Call quality is good, I can clearly hear the person I am talking to and they can hear me just fine. The kick stand is also a nice addition and its perfect for watching videos.
Over all it is a good phone, with a great OS and I would recommend it. If you want it, get it!
It is a great smartphone. Who has used HTC HD2 will find no problem with this Smartphone except the new Windows Phone 7 OS. Windows Phone 7 is a one step far far away with Windows Mobile 6.5 , great performance, cool features, but still missing some features like : Multi-task, Copy n Paste...(will be updated in the Update of Windows Phone 7 on January 2011 that Microsoft said before) And Microsoft need to fill up their Marketplace with tons of Apps if they want to beat up Apple's iOS.
HTC HD7 is really beautiful phone, i find something is alike the Leo (HD2) when holding it my hand. Big screen, for sure, good quality of picture on the screen, but one step back with AMOLED Technology Screen which could be found on Samsung Focus, but that is not a big deal with me.
The Battery is some kind of weak in my opinion. Fully Charged on the morning and still need to recharge in the late afternoon if i turn everything on this phone on and use it like normal : Web Surfing, Listen to music, writing note, send/receive e-mail with both 3G and Wi-fi.
The 5.0MP Camera HD-record ready make me disappoint a little bit. The color is not really "true" and "fresh" and the FPS of the 720p video record on the phone is kind of low.
The battery Cover is made by Hard Plastic, feel nothing like plastic but i think you should be nice with it. Plastic is still plastic, breakable.
The power buuton is a nightmare. I find it so hard to turn my phone on through the button at the right top of the phone.
The Zune Software now is used as a software to sync data on your phone with the Computer. It is great, you can buy apps on the Zune OS and install it on your device through your PC.
It is great phone to use, and for me, it is better than the iPhone 4.
This phone overall is a great phone. you can do a lot with it. the draw backs are that it doesn't support flash so you can't look at videos online with the phone except on youtube. the quality is okay on the camera too but media part (like music and movies) are awesome and i love the pinch to zoom and the tiles. awesome phone and is totally worth buying. =]
