The HPI Racing Savage XL Radio Controlled Truck is an overall good product. It runs smoothly, but the transmission gears were placed backwards by the manufacture and the gears broke which caused for me to purchase a new transmission. Once I replaced the transmission, I haven't had any other issues with the truck. It runs great and enjoy to watch it run fast. The frame of the truck is made to ride tough. The only thing that I dislike about this truck is that it rolls over too quickly. I would purchase another again, if I had the opportunity to do so. I didn't purchase this Savage, but rather it was a gift, but like I stated before I would purchase one again if I had the opportunity to do so.
The HPI Savage XL is the most bullet proof R/C monster truck that you can buy. This truck will amaze you with how much abuse that it will take. It took me trying to do a double front flip with it and nose diving straight into the ground from appoximately 15 feet in the air for it to break a part. All it broke was an arm in the steering and it cost me a whole $3 and 15 minutes to repair and I was back out abusing it. It also surprised the daylights out of me when I went to my local track and entered it in the 1/8 truggy class. I was able to finish 3rd with only Team Associated RC8T's beating me. I am very impressed with the speed and the handling of the truck. Like I said I got beat by 2 800 plus dollar R/C's. What had made me decide to buy it was that it was my first R/C and I wanted something that could take some abuse without it breaking everytime you looked at it funny. I watched a lot of videos on youtube and I recommend that you do the same. You will see what people do to these things and how strong they are.
Fast, durable, quality, & fun! I've bought other brand r/c vehicles, but HPI's seem to be the most durable. If you're into "bashing" no other truck on the market will hold up as well as a Savage! At this moment I own 2 Savage X 4.6's, a Savage XL K5.9, a Sprint 2 Drift Sport, & I'm currently saving to get one of the Baja's. I just gotta decide if I want the 5T, 5SC, or 5B SS. Anyone interested in getting into r/c I highly recommend HPI's products. You won't be disappointed.
The savage XL is a great truck, I like the fact that I have all kinds of up-grade options. Half the fun is working on the truck, I am very happy I bought it. I have purchased many parts from eBay and love the availability of the items and quantity there is. Now it's timefor a power up grade, oh yes sweet power.
Love the savage xl , easy to work on and only added few up grades to make this truck super tough ,very fast for a monster truck
