HP LaserJet P2055DN Workgroup Laser Printer

After receiving the HP LaserJet P2055dn, I setup and installed it on two computers. Although I have much previous experience with laser printers, unpackaging and setting up the P2055dn printer was straightforward and intuitive. I had purchased a additional 256MB RAM module to increase the memory to 384MB total of which around 50MB was already being used by the new printer, for what I am not sure. I highly recommend anyone purchasing this printer for printing any large document files or graphic intensive files to purchase the additional RAM. Installing the additional RAM was as simple as removing a side door and poping in the module and closing the side door. I printed a setup report page via the selection in the lcd menu to make sure the ram was installed properly and it showed up good. One note before using the printer is to make sure during setup, you remove all of the tape and foam holding the pieces of the printer together, make sure you remove the new cartridge protection strip before printing any pages on the new printer. Since the included cartridge is just a starter cartridge, I also purchased a generic high yield printer cartridge to install after the initial starter cartridge runs out of toner.

Installing and setting up the printer software on the two computers did prove a little challenging at first. I installed the printer on the two computers using a USB cable and a network cable. I know this might seem a little redundant, however, I ended up needing the usb connection on Windows XP SP 3 since for some wierd reason, it did not recognize the printer on the network. After a little while for my home network to recognize the HP2055dn printer, it was found and added on the Windows Vista second computer.

Altogther it did take about 2 hours to completely setup and install the printer on the two computers, however most of this time was in troubleshooting the printer not found on the network in Windows XP SP3 problem. Printing pages on the printer was fast, clear, and sharp as one would expect on a new printer. I highly recommend this printer for it's price, speed, and network capability.

We use this in our office. One professional and a secretary share the printer. It fits in great with their wireless network. We have had no problems. No breakdowns, not really any jams, nothing. The print speed is good.
If I did have a complaint, it would be the life of the toner cartridge--the regular cartridge, not the short-lived starter cartridge that HP provides with the machine. The only thing I have to compare this toner to, is an older, dinosaur printer, the HP 4L; the toner cartridge for the 4L seems to last forever; not true with this machine, maybe a few months. But, it's not a big problem--you just keep a spare on hand. And this printer has no problem with generic, aftermarket toner cartridges; the 4L was way more finicky on that point.

Great priner. It was easy to install on network. Prints fast. Replaced a HP LaserJet 2200D had for years. Bought the 500 sheet input tray as well.

This is a great printer for small business. Easy to use. It is built well and I really like the printing on both sides. Prints fast and neat. Works well in network.

Nice printer for the price. No way as loud as the reviews that I have read. Fast and crisp printing. Very fast startup and easy to operate. Great deal.
