These printers were quickly discontinued by HP for a reason. Cheap and actually very reliable. I have pounded out over 200,000 prints using remanufactured cartridges and it is still going strong. I bought another one on ebay for a back-up. If you have trouble installing a driver for Windows 7 please contact me for a solution. THIS PRINTER will work in Windows 7. Do not trade this reliable workhorse in for a newer printer. This is the one to own for simple day to day printing.
I bought the HP 1012 laserjet printer, with understanding it was able to print. To my disappointment it was a broken down printer that did not operate at all.I took
it to Staples to have it tested with a brand new toner cartridge and it still would not print at all.Bpeters@buckeyebuisness.net who sold it to me was nice enough to refund my money so I returned to him last week and he is suppose to receive it by Fedex on March 9th.It's my first experience buying anything on Ebay and hope it does not happen again.I'm sorry it was a disappointing purchase and maybe the next time it will work out. Thank you for reading my disappointment.

We have 3 or these units in our office and after one of them started to act flaky, we ran a diagnostic to find that it have surpassed 100,000 pages. Wow, could never believe that we printed that much and I can't complain that it failed after so many prints.
Anyways, decided to buy another identical one since the toner for these units are massively cheap through 3rd party manufacturers on ebay (new, not recycled, ones go for $17 each). Couldn't fathom buying a newer unit only to get burned by the higher toner cartridge costs.
There aren't many new ones on sale on ebay anymore because these units have long since been discontinued. I have seen new ones sell for more than what they were worth a few years back. We found a low usage (2400 pages) unit for about $30 and have been very happy with them. Would highly recommend for it's compact footprint and very reliable performance. HP1010, HP1012, HP1015, HP1018, HP1020, and HP1022 are all very similar units that use the same toner cartridge. Get one of these other ones if you can't find this particular model.
I use it to print invoices and the print quality is great. I have been very pleased with this printer. I have had it for over a year with absolutely no problems. I have printed over a thousand pages on it and I am still on my first toner cartridge and no problems whatsover. This replaced a samsung I had that was simlar but broke down so the fact that this is still working and printing crisply is good enough reason to buy it.
I guess I now know why HP is the leader and will stick with this brand from now on.

I can't complain about this little work horse. I have one at work and two at home. I usually try to stay away from HP because I think they like to make too much money on cartridges after they sold you the printer. In some cases the ink or toner cartridges can cost about 80% of the original printer with the cartridge. Although sometimes they put a smaller cartridge in just to get you started. In the process of looking for a cheaper toner cartridge I learned just how easy it is to drill a hole in the toner cartridge and fill it up with the black toner powder. You can do this for a while before the other parts wear out in the cartridge. Then you don't mind buying a new one. Beware of the newer HP printers as the internal memory keeps track of how much printing they allow you to do before they force you to replace it.
