What can I say about GTA that you don't already know? NOTHING. By now, everyone is completely aware of the cultural impact these games have had, and no less aware of the ground-breaking gameplay. In any case, these 2 games were originally designed for the PSP and then ported over to the PS2 a few months later. Even though that is the case, you'd never know by looking at the graphics. I find them as good as one might see when playing a PS2 game. Soundtracks might not be as engrossing as the original GTA Trilogy, but they are still really good stuff nonetheless. The only thing I might consider a drawback about these 2 games are their lengths. Since they are direct ports from the PSP, the missions are a little bit shorter, and the entirity of the games in general is not as prolonged. But the price more than makes up for that. This new double pack is very similar to the Grand Theft Auto III/Vice City Double Pack. It has different artwork on the discs, on the covers, and comes in a double-sleeved box which houses the cases that go with each game. I personally find the different artwork a step up from the previous, but then again, artwork isn't the reason you buy a game in the first place, so it really doesn't make a difference. Another good plus is that, as with most video game re-releases, bugs that were in the original releases, however few and benign, have been fixed to give you absolutely excellent reliabilty. Overall, I give this set a 9.5/10. The half a point went to the length of these games that could've been a little longer, but like I said, with a price tag of just 25 dollars, who can complain?
GTA is a great series, and these are 'prequel' games that are set before GTA III and Vice City. All GTA main characters are psychopaths, but ignoring that, the others for PS2 seem a little easier to like. Because they were intended for a handheld system, they didn't include a lot of improvements that came along in San Andreas for PS2. Even so, they can both be fun to play. VCS does have a place where the story gets darker, but it least it isn't entirely depressing (Like GTA IV for PS3). There are quite a few missions and a lot of side jobs, so there's plenty to keep you busy for quite a while if you're going for 100% completion. The other three PS2 games are better (IMO), but these are worth playing. At the low prices they're selling for now, this set will give you a lot of playing time for the money. Maybe my 5-star rating is is due as much to the bargain prices as the quality of the game.
I had a craving for some GTA and remembered i had never played these two extensions of the game. My favorite game series by far.
I bought this to complete my collection.
I like both games, they are fun.
It compares to the other GTA games I purchased by being the same game play.
