Gold!: This History of Man's Greatest Obsession (DVD, 2001, 2-Disc Set)

I really enjoy this history channel dvd. The two disk set has about four
hours on the history of gold and mining it from the earth.

I have always had a facination with the history of goldmining. I myself have been a miner for over 40 years and in that time have experienced many changes, from purely physical mining to the advent of large machinery and highly mechanized mining. Safety is another factor that has improved out of site with the number of injuries and fatalities being dramatically reduced here in australia.All stories on mining subjects contributes to my knowledge which in turn can be passed on to following generations. You never know that tiny spec of extra knowledge might make a job easier or save a life.
