Mermaid DORIS Lands the "fisherman" Rod Taylor FUN~

PLOT: MERMAID (DORIS DAY) SWIMS TO HELP HER FATHER WITH HIS GLASSBOTTOM BOAT BUT FISHERMAN ROD TAYLOR "CAPTURES" HER IN HIS LINE~ BUT he IS THE one "HOOKED"

the Fun and FISH "tale" begins when Doris is moonlighting as a "mermaid" to swim around her father's "Glass Bottom Boat" and along comes HUNK and Scientist Rod Taylor fishing who accidentally "snags" Jennifer Nelson (Doris Days) "mermaid tail" and find he is very "attracted " to the pretty widow~ little does she know this very embarrassing situations is going to get even "better" OR worse ...LOL... when Mermaid Jennifer Nelson (Day) finds her new boss is Dr. Templeton (Taylor) who decides to use Jennifer for his bio to attract her attention his way~ ADD Paul Lynde as the ever "suspicious" guard at (NASA)where both Day and Taylor work~ ADD Edward Andrews as Taylors buddy, Dom Deluise as a very incompetent spy who is out to steal "Gismo" the ultra secret device invented by Dr. Templeton (Rod Taylor)...
we see Templeton and Jennifer falling in love but the plot is fun when a real "spy" is trying to steal GISMO out of the safe at Templetons house~ the party scene where Paul Lynde in DRAG is very good~ ADD a lesser known part for Ellen Corby (Grandma Walton). as always the end is total Chaos when Doris found out she was being "used' and decides to get a little FUN "revenge" on every one~ Doris still looks great in a bikini~ and the silly plot is just for fun and we have it with this one~

also see THAT TOUCH OF MINK & WHERE WERE YOU WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT FOR MORE GREAT DORIS DAY HUMOR~

I GIVE THIS ONE A SOLID 8 OUT OF 10 FOR SILLY FUN~

doris day comedy/glass bottom boat

this is another wonderful doris day comedy about a girl who works for a top secret space program. she is mistaken for a spy and the gov't starts watching her and taps into her phone conversations. she has a dog named vladamir and she calls him everyday on her break so he will run around the house and get some exercise when he hears it ring. everyone suspects vladamir as her contact and tries to find out who he is. this is truly a good comedy for the whole family.

The Glass Bottom Boat

I remember seeing this movie as a kid for the first time - I loved it then and I still love it now. I'm gradually getting rid of all my old vhs tapes and replacing them with dvd's. It's well worth the money as far as entertainment goes. You can't beat good clean humor. I like to call it good humor "Gilligan style". My 16 year old son loves it as well. Doris Day is at her peak in this film as far as I'm concerned and the laughs are plenty. A must have for all 60's comedy fans!

The Glass Bottom Boat (2005, DVD

We wanted an "oldy but goody" video to show for the weekly movie time, at our local elderly Assisted Living Facility. They absolutely cracked up and afterwards shared stories by some of them who had actually been on those tours years ago.
The movie was excellent and there are other Doris Day films we have recorded and showed that they love.
Doris Day seems to hold a very special place in the hearts of the elderly. Me too, and I'm not that old.
