Product description
Synopsis
Lisbeth Salander-the heart of Larsson's two previous novels-lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She's fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she'll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she will plot revenge-against the man who tried to kill her, and the corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life. Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.

Reviews
"A thoroughly gripping read . . . Lisbeth Salander, Stieg Larsson's fierce pixie of a heroine, is one of the most original characters in a thriller to come along in a while-a gamin, Audrey Hepburn look-alike but with tattoos and piercings, the take-no-prisoners attitude of Lara Croft and the cool, unsentimental intellect of Mr. Spock . . . Owes less to the Silence of the Lambshorror genre than to something by John le Carré." -Michiko Kakutani, New York Times "The literary equivalent of a caffeine rush . . . Larsson was one of those rare writers who could keep you up until 3 a.m. and then make you want to rush home the next night to do it again . . . Larsson is something like John Grisham [but] Larsson held an extra ace: the creation of Salander." - Newsweek "It's over! And I feel the same sense of pleasure and loss that I did when I watched the finale of 'The Sopranos' and the last episodes of 'Battlestar Galactica' . . . Salander is, I promise, someone you will never forget . . . Anyone who enjoys grounding their imaginations in hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of exciting pages about the way we live now ought to take advantage of this trilogy." -Alan Cheuse, Chicago Tribune "Larsson has produced a coup de foudre, a novel that is complex, satisfying, clever, moral . . . This is a grown-up novel for grown-up readers, who want something more than a quick fix and a car chase. And it's why the Millennium trilogy is rightly a publishing phenomenon all over the world." - Guardian "A heart-stopping showdown showcases one of crime fiction's most unforgettable characters-and cements Larsson's rep as one of its most passionate and original voices." - People "Confirms Larsson as one of the great talents of contemporary crime fiction." - Sunday Times(UK) "Exhilarating . . . Larsson's was an undeniably powerful voice in crime fiction that will be sorely missed." - Publishers Weekly "Fast-paced enough to make those Jason Bourne films seem like Regency dramas." - Kirkus Reviews "Larsson's vivid characters, the depth of the detail across the three books, the powerfully imaginative plot, and the sheer verve of the writing make the trilogy a masterpiece of its genre." - The Economist "There are few characters as formidable as Lisbeth Salander in contemporary fiction of any kind . . . She dominates the stage like Lear . . . She will be sorely missed." - Booklist "Larsson's work is original, inventive, shocking, disturbing, and challenging . . . His novels have brought a much needed freshness into the world of crime fiction." - Times(UK) "Fans will not be disappointed: this is another roller-coaster ride that keeps you reading far too late into the night." - Evening Standard

Great read. Very Entertaining.

Review For: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest No. 3 by Stieg Larsson (2010, Hardcover)

I picked up the first book in this trilogy wondering what all the hype was about, and was this just because the author has unfortunately passed away. The first book, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo took me by surprise! I will admit it took me about 85 pages to really get interested, but then every chance I got, I was reading! Stieg Larsson, the author and creator of these stories, will greatly be missed. I am almost done with the final book: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, and I have to tell you I am torn whether to read slower to savor Mr. Larssons creative storyline, or to carry the book with me so I find out what becomes of Mikael Bloomkvist, and our fiesty little heroine, Lisbeth Salander!

I believe these books would be enjoyed by anyone, male or female, from 18 to 98 years of age.

THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNETS' NEST BY STEIG LARSSON

Review For: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest No. 3 by Stieg Larsson (2010, Hardcover)

WOULD RECOMMEND THIS "POSSIBLE" FINAL BOOK OF STEIG LARSSON'S MILLENIUM TRILOGY,WHICH ALSO INCLUDES "THE GIRL W/THE DRAGON TATTOO" & "THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE"......I AM AN INCESSANT READER, ESPECIALLY OF MYSTERIES AND POLITICAL THRILLERS AND THIS IS THE BEST, BAR NONE, SERIES I HAVE EVER READ! WHY? BECAUSE THE BOOKS SPEAK OF ONE INDIVIDUAL'S ONGOING,ILLEGAL TORTURE AT THE HANDS OF A "LIBERAL" GOVERNEMENT SUCH AS SWEDEN.....BUT, IT ALSO TOUCHES UPON CURRENT NEO-NAZI ORGANIZATIONS, FAR-RIGHT EXTREMISTS AND THEIR GOV'T ALLIES, FREEDOM OF THE PRESS AND OTHER FREEDOMS TAKEN SO LIGHTLY, IN MANY EUROPEAN COUNTRIES AND CERTAINLY IN THE USA.....IT ALSO DRAWS THE READER INTO THE REAL LIFE POSSIBILITIES THAT LARSSON WAS MURDERED DUE TO HIS LONG & ONGOING FIGHT TO REVEAL AND RID SWEDEN OF THE EXTREME FAR-RIGHT POWERS.....AND OF COURSE, THE MAIN CHARACTER, LISBETH SALANDER, REPRESENTS SO MANY, MANY WOMEN AND MEN, WHO ARE IGNORED AND SILENCED TO PROTECT THE GUILTY! GIVE IT A READ, YOU WILL NEVER VIEW POLITICS, WOMEN'S "RIGHTS", AND YOUR OWN GOVERNMENT THE SAME WAY AGAIN!

Stieg Larsson rules!

Review For: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest No. 3 by Stieg Larsson (2010, Hardcover)

I bought this as a gift for a friend because I have already read this book and passed my copy on. All of the Stieg Larsson books are wonderful and this one very clearly tied up all the themes from the two previous stories. This is some of the best reading I have ever enjoyed. I cannot recommend this trilogy enough to anybody who enjoys great reading. Not for the light of heart, though. Very intense and sometimes a bit horrific, but always always on point and entertaining. Sorry that Stieg Larsson is no longer with us, but hopefully someone equally as prolific is out there for me to discover very soon. Read this book but read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire first, in that order. If you are a voracious reader, you will be glad you did.

Written with a vision for the silver screen

Review For: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest No. 3 by Stieg Larsson (2010, Hardcover)

I saw the first book come out while living in Philadelphia and passed it over, Good & Bad. Since I waited so long to read the trilogy I got to read them all back2back. I couldn't stop reading. I needed to see the next plot turn. The beauty of these books is Larsson's ability to describe the scene in such poignant detail that you feel you are there with the characters, invested in their emotional arc and you want justice to prevail. And, as alluded in my title, the detail is good enough to picture how this will turn out on the big screen. I've seen the first 2 movies and they stay with the main story line very well. I've recommended these books to many people: fans of crime fiction, politcal intrigue and david/goliath scenarios.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

Review For: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest No. 3 by Stieg Larsson (2010, Hardcover)

I had already read the first two books in the Millenium Series (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire)and if you've read those you have to read the last book! Once again, Larsson delivered an action packed adventure from start to finish. I wanted to read this last book slowly and savor it, being the end of Lisbeth's story, but once I started, I had to barrel right through it! I expected to be disappointed with where the end of the book left the characters, since Larsson unfortunately died, but it was suprisingly satisfactory. Still wish there could be more stories though, these characters could have gone on to share many more adventures. As far as my Ebay purchase, I paid a low price for a brand new book which I received promptly, everything was great!
