Stieg Larsson's hit novel comes to DVD in this tale of two investigators who are trying to solve a 40 year old murder. Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander are met with resistance from the family members as they look into this mystery.
Mikael Blomkvist is a journalist who has been convicted of libel against a powerful industrialist. As he awaits the commencement of his sentence he is hired by a wealthy family to investigate the disappearance of a young girl that took place 40 years earlier. During the investigation, Mikael gets help from "the girl with the dragon tattoo", Lisbeth Salander. Mikael soon finds out that Lisbeth has a brilliant mind and a strong will and she quickly becomes the driving force of the investigation.
Published after the authors death in 2004, the popular series of books (The Girl Who Played with Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) have been very well received by readers.
This is a Swedish movie with English Subtitles and is a total of 152 minutes so be prepared for that. It is hard to sit through that length of time having to read all of the dialogue but the movie is worth it.
However, there are some very disturbing images in this movie. Some graphic sexual scenes and some very disturbing murder scenes of young women.
Cast includes: Ingvar Hirdwall, Lena Endre, Marika Lagercrantz, Michael Nyqvist, Noomi Rapace, Peter Andersson, Peter Haber, and Sven-Bertil Taube
It is always fascinating to follow the exploits of a strong, fearless, intelligent female heroine. We always know that when Lisbeth appears
extraordinary things will happen and she will prevail. She worked well opposite
Mikael Blomkvist who was an irritating lover, friend and compatriot. A fascinating Swedish masterpiece by Stieg Larsson. I hope his brother finishes the fourth book so that we can see more drama with Lisbeth and Mikael in this
intriguing Swedish background. Perhaps a bit too much information given about
rather minor characters; but a late-night page-turner. I guess part of my reason to buy was also my own Scandinavian heritage.

I have to admit, I don't usually DON'T like movies with subtitles (words translated along the bottom of the screen)... but 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' was GREAT! I had already read the book, so knew the story and plot... but seeing it was a wonderful followup!
This shipper was FAST, and DVD was well protected, so I'll definately be ordering from them, again :)
A instant Classic. This Canadian has different Words in the Translations than the orginal ones from Sweden, but just as well, not just into Engish, but kind into Amarican English language. Don't let that disturb you at all.
A friend suggested the movie. I found it a bit graphic, but the plot had a combination of exceptional twists that keep you thinking all the time.
I would not suggest this for the faint of heart, but if you like a murder mystery that keeps you quessing, this is the one.
