Be prepared with a full box of tissues when reading this emotionally gripping tale by one of America's most highly acclaimed storytellers, Danielle Steel. The story is set in a small midwestern town in 1952(coincidentally the year of my birth) so I was fascinated with the rich details and revealing glimpses of what many consider a simpler time in our nation's history. Woven in a beautifully crafted style, this tale of a very young unwed mother's rejection by her own family members and the consequent love and care shown her by a recently bereaved family a couple hundred miles away help set the stage for this simple yet powerful story of life, family values, and -- that for which we all are searching in this life -- the gift of love.
Danielle Steel has always been able to keep readers interested in her novels, however this one i just couldn't put down. I read this entire book in a matter of hours. The novel will make you feel so many emotions, I laughed, I cried, and I smiled so much my face hurt. It truly reminds readers there are many people in the world who not only face differcult problems in there lives, but they overcome them and go on to be stronger people. This novel is well worth the time and money it cost a reader, and in the world we live in today all of us could use some hope and love.
WOW. there is not enough good things i can say. I read this book for the first time when i was about 15 years old and it captured my heart. Written beautifully, but easy enough that the basic reader could follow! Laugh and Cry, this book will tug at your heart! I'm 21 years old now and if anyone asks me my favorite book, its still and will always be THE GIFT by Danielle Steel. A must read, especially for young girls!
I had to read this book in high school my senior year. I'm a procrastinator and waited at the last day to read it before my paper was due. Little did I know that this was going to be a good book. I don't know if you would call this book a "Chick Book" but I call it a good book with a good story. I bought this book for my wife because I know she would love it!
This was one of the most heart felt books I have read in a very long time. My aunt, 96, was the one who started me reading Danielle Steel, and with each book I read, the more I enjoy her work. Please take a moment, if you have never enjoyed any of Danielle Steel's books, find one. They are lovely and make you feel good about life.
