Movie synopsis

A ghostwriter stumbles onto a secret that places his life in danger as he takes down the life story of a former U.K. prime minister in this Roman Polanski-helmed adaptation of the Robert Harris novel. Convinced by his agent that he's been granted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, talented British screenwriter "The Ghost" (Ewan McGregor) agrees to aid British prime minister Adam Lang (Pierce Brosnan) in completing his memoirs after the leader's former aide dies under mysterious circumstances. Almost immediately after The Ghost arrives at a remote mansion in the U.S. to begin working with the prime minister, Lang is accused of committing a war crime by a former British cabinet minister. Amidst a deluge of protestors and reporters, The Ghost delves into the unfinished manuscript and comes to the terrifying conclusion that his predecessor died because he discovered a link between Prime Minister Lang and the CIA. The more information The Ghost uncovers, the more convinced he becomes that his life could be in danger as well.

Good Roman Polanski Suspense Movie

Created: 08/13/10
Ewan McGregor stars as British screenwriter "The Ghost" who is hired to write the memories of the British Prime Minister (Pierce Brosnan) after the original ghost writer dies in a freak accident. McGregor soon discovers there is more going on here than people are letting on and become trapped in the scandal that is following the Prime Minister. He soon discovers that the previous writer's accident may not have been an accident at all and that his own life may be at risk.

The movie is directed by Roman Polanski and it is typical of his work. The movie is a bit slow but it is very easy to follow, there are a few twists and turns that are not expected.

The movie also stars: Kim Cattrall, Olivia Williams, and Tom Wilkinson

Recommended for anyone who loves a good suspense movie.

ghost writer - well crafted suspense story

Created: 12/10/10
Review For: The Ghost Writer (DVD, 2010)
Unless you are under 18, this is one of the best movies made in 2010. There were few well made movies this year but if you like a well crafted movie this is for you. The other one I recommend is "Social Network." Ghost Writer has quality acting, sharp dialog and is well paced. The plot devices used to move the story forward were creative, such as the car tracking device used to track the main characters predecessor. Even the music is well done for the genre. I liked the movie well enough to see the movie twice.
I am British, and the main character has a British sense of humor which I appreciate.
Polansky has mastered the art of suspense movie. I hope he resolves his rape case so he can make films in the US again. This film is set in the US but was filmed in Europe. I guarantee that you will be entertained throughout the film
AS a quality piece of cinema, this would be a good addition to your library.

Review For: The Ghost Writer (DVD, 2010)
The cast, headed by Pierce Brosnan, is excellent.

The writting is well scripted and while fiction could have been based on actual events.

Very fast paced and keeps you involved as the plot unfolds in this ACTION thriller. If you like intrigue, and fiction that copies fact - you will enjoy The Ghost Writer!

Review For: The Ghost Writer (DVD, 2010)
Good mystery/thriller. Only figured out part of the ending, half-way through, which is good since I watch a lot of this type of movie. Great acting. Interesting set design. Just enough action to keep the pace going. A winner in this genre.
