Movie synopsis
Director and screenwriter David Koepp (STIR OF ECHOES, SECRET WINDOW) brings Ricky Gervais, Greg Kinnear, and Téa Leoni together for a romantic comedy with a twist of the supernatural. Dr. Bertram Pincus (Gervais) doesn't like people very much. In fact, the antisocial dentist does everything he can to avoid interaction with other human beings. Unfortunately, he gets more than he bargained for when he is released from the hospital after undergoing a standard procedure: he can see dead people, and they can see him. Suddenly, every ghost in New York City wants Pincus to help clean up their unfinished business. Dapper Frank (Kinnear) is the most persistent ghost, badgering Pincus to help keep his widow, Gwen (Leoni), from making a big mistake. Gervais is perfect as Pincus, whose deadpan expressions make obvious his disdain for people. His comic timing is spot on throughout the film. Kinnear makes Frank likable, not an easy feat since he apparently wasn't such an upstanding guy when he was alive and married to Leoni's Gwen. Aasif Mandvi appears as a dentist sharing Gervais's office, and Billy Campbell is Gwen's new love interest. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE star Kristen Wiig is a scene-stealer as Pincus's surgeon, particularly when she is trying to avoid telling her patient what went wrong during his procedure. Dana Ivey and Alan Ruck also appear as ghosts in need of help., EXTRAS and THE OFFICE star Ricky Gervais brings his trademark wit to this comedy. The British actor stars as a man who dies for seven minutes, but his awakening brings more than just a newfound appreciation for life: he can now see ghosts.

A sweet and funny romance, that even the guys will enjoy!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I bought this movie for my 20 yr old son, so that right there tells you its a fun movie to watch...you know how the younger gen. is...*smiles*We both watched it years ago and thought it was super funner and clean for everyone to watch. This is a flick that is great to have in your home viewing collection...if you need a fun laugh...and sweet romance...(not tooo sappy)...then this movie is for you. All the actors are wonderful and make this worth seeing more than once!

Ghost Town (DVD, 2008)

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Bertram Pincus is a man whose people skills leave much to be desired. When Pincus dies unexpectedly, but is miraculously revived after seven minutes, he wakes up to discover that he now has the annoying ability to see ghosts. Even worse, they all want something from him, particularly Frank Herlihy who pesters him into breaking up the impending marriage of his widow Gwen. That puts Pincus squarely in the middle of a triangle with spirited result.

The film was very witty and hilarious, if you like Ricky Gervais then you will love this film. It is also quite a sensitive film,it makes you think what if.

Great movie! Totally worth it!

This movie is absolutly hilarious! While it is a love story, its not the tradtional story. Ricky Gervais and the rest of the cast will have you rolling on the floor gasping for air. I bought this product because Im a huge fan of Rickey Gervais, hes one of my favorite comidians.

Funny. and Just right!

Review For: Ghost Town (Blu-ray Disc, 2008)

This is a good romantic comedy, and that is a genre that often gets messed up. Here, the old formula comes out just right! I laughed many times at the absurdity of the script and the situations, and was then surprised to find myself dabbing my eyes a few minutes later when emotional truths suddenly kicked in. Everything works. Ghost Town is both a surprise and a departure: it's genuinely funny and quietly original. It also shows what Gervais can do in the right role.
