This AAA battery sized RF sender (433MHz) works far better and at longer distances than any of the other 418MHz devices I've used (and I've used many of them: Jensen, Powermid, RadioShack etc). The other devices seem to work at 10 meters or less with at most 1 intervening wall but the Next Gen device works 4 rooms away consistently with no RF interference from ambient RF (wireless routers, cordless phones, etc.). With ONE exception: Putting this device in a Panasonic Universal Remote that came with my Plasma TV caused erratic behavior with the remote. The remote, would not function properly even at a distance of 30 cm when aimed at the selected device. Other buttons would malfunction e.g. the "up volume" caused the volume to DECREASE. Curious. But the Next Generation RF extender worked in virtually every other single device remote. Unfortunately, you can't buy just the additional RF transmitters for less than the entire devices (RF Exttender, 2 batteries, RF Receiver, AA adapter). Sellers take note: SELL THE TRANSMITTER FOR LESS THAN THE WHOLE DEVICE. You'll sell MANY more!
These units worked great in all my remotes except for one control for a newer DirecTV receiver. Not sure why it didn't work but didn't spent to much time working on it. I used old X-10 pyramids for the DirecTV system. The RF remotes work from all over the house and basement. I think they work better when the IR on the remote control is blocked when you are line line of sight with the controlled device. Double control signal sources seem to confuse the device.
I bought several extra extra transmitter for all of my remotes.
Allows remote use behind entertainment center doors. Easy to hide, however manufacture does poor job noting what remotes or systems it works with, I needed it to operate my DirectTv remote, learned after purchasing and when it would only operate the TV part of my remote, not the DVR portion that the 433 MHZ transmitter won't work you need the 418 MHZ transmitter. It took me forever to find this and finally found it from one company who retails the product.
It does exactly as advertised. I am VERY happy with the product. I can use my remotes (I bought an extra transmitter) from anywhere around the house. This is exactly what I bought it for.
