I am a sales representative and I drive the state of Ohio. I purchased the Garmin nuvi 255 WT Automotive GPS Receiver to assist me in finding my client's location. What a stress reliever! I put in the address and let the Garmin take over! No more searching on my phone or on Map Search for me! It is simple to use and it tells me the most direct route to take, giving me the plenty of time to get in the right lane to make turns and take the proper road. I don't get lost and I arrive in plenty of time. I am able to store the clients that I call on all the time into the memory and it is simple to call them up.
The Garmin is simple to use, has a colorful display, easy to see at night, large sceen, and it fits on my windshield to view while I am driving or you can put it on your dashboard if you prefer.
I don't have any negatives about this Garmin. It is worth every penny. I am going to purchase another for my wife. You need to purchase this one if you want a user friendly, easy-to-use, and colorful Garmin. I should have bought it a long time ago. I would have saved myself a lot of stressful driving if I had to locations I was not familiar with the area.
I bought a used Garmin nuvi 255WT GPS for below $100 recently on e-bay. I have been using the Nuvi products for the past 4 years and am satisfied with all of them. 255WT is easy to use, has a nice and wide screen. The voice prompts are clear and loud. The seller had given 2010 maps and the Nuvi has not led me astray yet. The "T" in the name suggests "showing traffic jam" facility using a FM radio. You will get visual color coded traffic suggestion for avoiding traffic congestions. You will need some time to get used to using buttons (touch-screen) on the QWERTY keyboard. My only complaint is that it does not show compass or the actual direction I am driving in. All in all, I would recommend the Garmin Nuvi 255WT for a budget conscious customer. Just a suggestion, please buy a case to store this GPS, to avoid scratches while using in your car.
I purchased a nuvi 255WT in December of 2009. The unit had 2010 maps loaded. I did not turn the unit on until March when I was making a trip to Phoenix. I connected to Garmin on the web and ran updates.
I started using the unit at the car rental at the Phoenix airport. The unit was very slow to respond. It would tell me to make a turn after it was too late. It was like that the whole trip. One day I was going to Tortilia Flat. Been there many times before. This unit was telling me to go a different route than I was use to. I thought that well there are some new roads here so I will just trust it. It took me way out of town. About an hour later, it told me to make a right. The only place to make a right was down the bank of the road and up the side of the mountain. I think a bulldozer could not have made it up the mountain.
I had trouble getting back to the car rental at the airport as well. It was lost at the airport. The year before I had a GPS For Dummies and it did great at the airport. The GPS For Dummies responded timley for turns etc., unlike the Garmin.
The Garmin was lost at home as well. So I called tech support. They has me reset it. It did not help. So they sent me another unit. It was lost and was slow like the first unit.

I bought the new Garmin 255WT Car GPS in very good price. I was looking for cheap price like after black friday. Garmin 255WT has traffic navigation at the same time so GPS tells the shortest way when there are major traffic and accidents. All different language is able to set up. Overall, I'd recommend 255WT Car GPS if you are looking for get perfect GPS for you.
