We bought the GPS for vacation in South Dakota, bum place to get lost. Like the large touch screen and font size for reading, less distracting. Lifetime updates is the clincher for buying the Garmin.
Don't like not having a printed manual to keep in the car, other than the simple get started manual, to explanin features. You don't always have access to a computer to connect with Garmin and look things up. Maybe once I'm more familiar with the unit this won't be such an issue.
All in all I'd buy another one.
I am a fan of the Garmin GPS. This is the third one I have bought. Although there are some cool new features since the last one I had, such as the detail image of upcoming turns so you know which lane to be in. But at the same time I find it difficult to do some of the things that were previously easy to do, such as adding an address to favorite places. Instead of being able to just type in an address and save it, you have to actually set a route to that address and then afterward go back to recent routes and find the address and then navigate your way to save this address. The map itself hardly labels any streets as you are traveling. All I see are some jumbled lines representing streets that I don't know the name of. But still it is a solid navigational tool. It will get you to where you are going.
This Garmin is a little diferent than my old one. This one has a 5" screen and although it is less than 1" larger it appears to be much larger, easier to see and read.
The new one does not speak the nam eo the strret for upcoming turns but it is displays at the top and is easy to see. It does not announce "RECALCCULATING" if you go past your turn. This is something I do miss.
I purchased a new Garmin simple because the old one was 3+ years old, I used it everyday and it had many battle scars. The battery was not holding a charge any longer so had to leave it plugged in to use it.
My wife is technology challenged, but she was able to operate this system after a few lessons. maps are easy to follow, split screen works great and updates and program to load it are simple to follow. One complaint, it states it has lifetime traffic, but does not tell you, you have to purchase a special cord to get the traffic. I feel this is wrong seeing they advertise lifetime maps and traffic (LMT)
I am loved this gps ,works very well to me , it has so many options , has free map and traffic updates .When you drive gps show you traffic in live .Very easy to use , very easy to tape your address in gps ,it show immediately available address .If you buy ,you never disappointing !!!
