Garmin nuvi 255 Automotive GPS Receiver

We needed a way to find many things when we travel. This Garmin nuvi 255 has an up to date map, verbally tells us if we are on the wrong path & to turn around, gives verbal instructions to turn before we have to, so as to be prepared to do so, and is quite easy to use, VERY user friendly. We used it for the 1st time on a recent business trip, during heavy snow, & were extremely confident, even in the slow travel, knowing that Garmin would not let us down. This device will also inform you of restaurants & gas stations on your trip, plus points of interest.
Let me tell you, it felt so good to trust this Garmin which was affixed to our windshield & could be easily seen. It came with everything needed. We did not have to buy anything else. You can't go wrong with this plus it is very reasonably priced for all the benefits you get from it, especially peace of mind.

I bought the Garmin Nuvi 255 because I changed my cell phone/provider and no longer had the built in GPS Navigator in my cell phone. I wanted a GPS unit that was small and did not have a proliferation of cables, chargers, etc.

This Garmin works perfectly and meets all of my needs. I also bought off eBay a clip on case which is handy for protecting the unit and easily to carry in pedestrian mode.

I highly recommend this Garmin for anyone wanting a small portable unit. I find the 3.5" screen size to be more than adequate. I also got the Garmin friction base which makes moving it from car to car quick and simple.

This is one of the best Garmin units out there. It has the best routes { until I updated the unit -1 star }compared to other new Garmin units. I really like the fact that when you save a favorite location, it be visible on map { if driving within 2-3 miles of it even if your not routing to that destination. Helps remind me of my customers or friends if you want to stop by and say hi. Its compact { I even customized my truck by removing one of my dash vents and installing this unit in { looks cool & less noticeable to thieves }. The traffic alerts needs a special power cable which my other Garmin has, but not always helpful so its a waste of money.I would buy another unit this time with lifetime map updates.

These are great to have but if you have to count on this to get where your going, you don't need to be driving. You still should have a map with you. I also see it as another distraction too. So don't try to set it while your driving & your texting with one hand, talking on your phone while you eat a burger.
Garmin made great fish finders for years, so you can't go wrong with a Garmin GPS. DO your research before you buy anything.

One cool thing I found out is while your at home planing a trip, you can go to mapquest & plot your route. Now mapquest gives you the option to send what you did to your GPS.

Back to the Garmin. I like it. I'm old school & use to drive 2 lane black top. It kinda takes the adventure out of a journey.

If your in the market I would recommend it. Be smart & don't leave it in your ride. Someone will want it more than you, so take it out.

This Garmin Nuvi 255 is an good GPS receiver and very easy to use. Is a very great tool to find your destination, you can get the directions.
