This GPS unit from Garmin is exactly everything you need to get started in the world of GPS. It's very simple, but it does just right what it was designed to do. It's fast when processing routes, and fast when recalculating a new route when you make a wrong turn or decide to go in other direction. The voice commands are clear and precise, and the system indicates how far is the next turn.
Other amazing features are the real speed indicator, that shows exactly the current speed, and the possibility to create your own routes using the MapSource software, free from the Garmin website. You can also record your favorite places, just tapping in the car while you're driving. The systems stores your current position, so you can get back later. The GPS accepts several languages.

If you live outside the USA, you'll have trouble if you try to buy a map, because they ship it to USA only. The GPS accepts several languages, and it's very easy to use. Check the Garmin website to compare the different models, but notice: the 200w, 250w and 260w are almost identical.

Garmin Nuvi 200W

This Garmin was awesome. Easy to use right away and it blew away (for the price) the one my husband paid full price for. It is not only for the car but bicycle and pedestrian use. I highly suggest this product.

A good navigator for a good price.

This model, in my opinion, is a perfect combination of price and quality. First, it has a wide screen, which makes this device much more useful than model 200. Also, it is little different from higher models of the two-hundredth series, but is cheaper. I use this navigator in Moscow (Russia) - a city with very heavy traffic and a large number of alternative routes. Nevertheless, this device works excellent and isn't so slow as for example WinMo devices.

My GPS broke and I needed a new one quick! I can't get anywhere without one (haha) I already have the charger for the Garmin 200 so I bought it again. It's a trusty and easy to use GPS. I have seen other GPS brands and I know that Garmin has the easiest screen to use. I find the tomtom's screen to have poor accessibility. However, I have two complaints about the Garmin. First, it announces when you need to turn but it doesn't say the street name like many other GPS devices do. It just says turn left in 0.2 miles. So if you are in a city with a street to turn down every couple of seconds it can be frustrating. Tomtoms announce the street name before you turn, I think this is a great feature that Garmin should have utilized. My other complaint with the Garmin 200 is that it takes forever to find your location (via satellite). One it finds you, you are pretty set, it is unlikely it will lose your signal. Thus, you need to wait in your car anywhere from 2-6 minutes for the signal to find you, whereas new GPS can find you within seconds. Keep in mind however, the Garmin 200 came out in 1997 or so I'm sure they have updated their new products.
