|Slim designed and light weight, the Garmin nuvi 1300LM is a great navigator that can be used while driving or walking. It comes with a wide variety of features, including pedestrian navigation, fuel optimization of routes, and audio street announcements. The wide 4.3-inch, backlit touchscreen TFT screen reads well in bright sunlight 480x272 WQVGA pixel resolution. With a database of almost 6 million points of interest that spread across the lower 48 states, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, this Garmin nuvi navigator comes real handy for travellers within North America. The Garmin nuvi 1300LM has a user-friendly interface that greets individuals with two helpful options - “Where to?†and “View Mapâ€. While the “Where to?†question helps the user instantly navigate to an address or point of interest the “View Map†option pulls up a detailed map listing of any address or locale. The Garmin nuvi 1300LM boasts advanced navigation features, including ecoRoute and turn-by-turn directions. The navigator’s EcoRoute programming calculates and renders the shortest possible routes thereby reducing travel time and fuel cost.|
Users can easily navigate the touchscreen to look up addresses, points of interest, and local services, and then receive turn-by-turn voice-prompts that aid in driving without having to look off the road. If adjustments are needed, the Garmin nuvi 1300LM has an enhanced user interface that lets users quickly slide between screens for safe access to route details. Users who are traveling on foot will also get countless benefits out of this Garmin nuvi navigator. The unit offers enhanced pedestrian navigation features that include details on where to walk, how to catch public transportation, such as buses, subways, and trams, and time estimates of how long a walking trip will take. The GPS receiver even offers digital elevation details that show shaded contours when maps are viewed at higher zoom levels, giving pedestrians a better idea of the terrain ahead of them. Thanks to its slim, lightweight design, the Garmin nuvi navigator does not weight a user down, making it a great accessory for any pedestrian.
The Garmin nuvi 1300LM also features the “Where am I?†emergency locator, which gives users instant details on their location, its nearest address or intersection, its precise latitude and longitude coordinates, and the nearest service locales, such as gas stations, hospitals, and police stations. Users never need worry again about getting lost and or of running out of gas in an unknown area. The “Where am I?†feature on the GPS receiver fixes all those problems and more.
The optional cityXplorer feature adds yet another level to the travel experience, providing information on everything from businesses and tourist stops to family-oriented points of interests along with detailed maps for cities around the globe. This was a refurbished Garmin Nuvi that looked brand new when it arrived. I bought it to replace a much older model, and found it to be very easy to use (similar to my original) and it even used the same charger which was very helpful.
The new one is lighter and slimmer and has a lifetime map update. The only drawback was that I could not use my international memory stick on the new one, but will just take the old one on my next trip to Europe.
Overall it was an excellent buy at a good price and I am very happy with it.
Now I can get lost and find my way back!Without having some one come get me.I went some where with a friend that had one and it realy made the trip easy and on time. Every one should have one of these.
I have used the receiver very little but find it very quick to recalculate when I veer off the route. The screen is pretty small but has anything on it needed for an easy trip.
I would like the maps to be downloaded faster. - 4 hours at best.
I could use traffic on it, but I think, for the price it is very good.
Blue tooth would have been useful but that is now outlawed in my state.
I really enjoy the touch screen feature, also the graffics are wonderful. The thing I dislike most about this is you can't see early enough what your next step is. For instance I was merging from one freeway to another and at the moment I get on the 2nd freeway I also had to take the first exit, which was all the way over to my right side and I was in the far left lane. There was not enough notice before so I missed the exit, having to go off course with this GPS was a nightmare!!! The recaluculating was rediculous, it was sending me the wrong way! I just like a gps system where I can be one step ahead each time, but it is a nice item. Another thing, is the maps need to be updated. It doesn't even have a street listed at all, that has been next to our house for at least 7 years!!! Now that's just outdated in my opinion. Kinda worries me, if they don't have that street, what else are they missing???
