hello to everyone.
garmin etrex 30 had been purchased for hunting purposes mostly, and due to its rigid rubbered body, small size and easyness of use works really great.
hunting in siberia means walking long distances through really wild untouched nature without any sign of cell phone coverage, and it is too easy to get lost in taiga, so if you even have couple of gpses in both hands always put an ordinary mechanical compass in your bag ;)electronic devices are electronic devices with their hard-and-software issues, and noone would be glad to lose his life because of you know "ough its just a little bug, bring it to us and we'll fix it" GARMIN seems really reliable, it really worth its price.
works great, very strong signal everywhere I tried and good battery life. I've choosed etrex30 because it has all the features of Garmins upper model line(wireless data sharing, 3Dcompass and barometer and many others not needed in fact for hunter) but it is smaller twice and price is really affordable.(and by the way, it is the lastest device from Garmin).
highly reccomend for hunting, walking, biking(easy mounting and looks good/not like your grand's TV set in front of your bike), nice and reliable device for all conitions.
have a nice life, bye!
Got this for my husband to use while snowmachining so he can track where they travel in the mountains, and also to be able to follow a course he sets ahead of time. Purchased an enhanced map to go with it, and the combination seems to provide all the detail and clarity he wanted. Some reviews said these weren't very intuitive to use, but both of us figured it out without using the instructions, so I gave it a 5 for ease of use. He didn't want to go with a huge bulky, battery consuming touch screen, especially as he's had problems with touch screens working in extreme cold where he rides. Overall, seems to be a great GPS unit.
It is very happy with purchase. Management convenient. JPS + GLONASS - really takes a signal where all the rest doesn't show anything. Small, easy. In the afternoon, especially at solar lighting all is perfectly visible! More flexible settings (possibility of a choice of a profile - for example, for a driving on a car or for a campaign). Undoubted plus - possibilities of use of raster cards (vector often won't do at all).Компас on the mountains very much help with a hike. Protection against water and blows excellent, it is checked. Internal memory 1.7Гб micro SD.
Easy to use and small enough to carry in your pocket when not in use. The eTrex 30 replaces my Delorme PN-60 that I found to be rather cumbersome both physically and interactively. Great for hunting, hiking and geocaching due to compact size. Good accuracy and fast satellite acquisition for a mid range priced GPS unit.
I teach a class that uses GPS receivers and purchase at least one new one every semester. This little eTrex 30 is a delightful little GPS receiver. If you don't need an electronic compass or altimeter, get the eTrex 20 and save a few bucks. Works great with City Navigator as well as OSM maps. Has 100,000k built in, and you can add 24,000 with a microSD card.
Only thing I really don't like is that you can't turn off the tracking function. Maybe you can and I haven't figured it out yet. Otherwise, it is a wonderful device.
