Not for everyone. I got mine from ebay. Overall I would say this is a decent smartphone/gps unit.
Would I recommend it? Yeah sure but personally I wouldn't buy this now at it's current going rate. 50 bucks tops.
[Update] Battery life is atrocious! The only saving grace is I own a garmin gps and this phone uses the same car charger.
[Update] Screen no longer works.
I like the phone quite a bit. I had a palm before and miss some of the calendar features of that phone. Overall it is a great phone as it combines gps, phone and a host of other features (wifi, a good camera + android). I like it because I can cary my gps with me, and if I find myself in the need of directions to an address I can get there at a moments notice. One note...I bought one of these for my son on ebay, and it died within a couple on months. It is a good idea to buy a warranty, just to protect yourself. My experience is buy new if you can, otherwise you never know what you are getting. It has a short battery life if you are giving it heavy use ie gps or streaming content.
Smooth phone. it being a GPS phone is just a plus. it does everything that more expensive phones do, and just as well. Camera takes nice pics. Good sound for music. Speakerphone is loud, Ringer is loud. GPS works better on the phone than my cars GPS. Us it alot, so the battery goes fast. Shares the same power cord as my Garmin car GPS. Dropped my original G-A50, shattered the screen, went out and bought an IPhone. Took it back a week later, and bought a G-A50 off EBAY. Love it that much!!!
This is a excellent phone for someone on the go. This unit is fast, reliable, built in GPS, no data required. The stand alone GPS works exactly as the portable units. This unit is able to install all the android apps from the market play store. The size of the unit with a great screen makes it easy to use. This unit has everything built in bluetooth, wifi. This unit comes with great battery life. Asus-Garmin, made great integration with the GPS software with Android. The unit is heavy and very well made. For the money, if you are on the go, this is a good unit for you.
I love the Garminfone! It is the best phone that I have had so far. The gps on the phone is an actual Garmin gps, and you can use the gps for driving or walking. Make sure to take your phone chaarger with you where ever you go, because will not last long if you have apps running, or use the internet a lot. I would recommend getting a car charger, which just pluggs into yours cars cigarette lighter. It is easy to keep the phone charged that way. I tated yhe battety a 5, because the battery is not bad, it just dies fast when using features on the phone like any other Android would. The phone will last preety much all day if you are not using a bunch of apps, or are on the web or talking a lot. I would recommend this phone to anyone. Garmin out did themselves.
