|The S700 features a 10.0x Optical Zoom with a 35mm focal range equivalent of 38-380mm. Bring your subject closer and clearer with high-quality Fujinon lens technology. Fast moving subject? No problem. Fujifilm's Picture Stabilization technology utilizes the heightened sensitivity of the FinePix S700 at ISO 1600 and high-speed shutter settings to prevent camera shake or freeze subject movement, keeping blur to a minimum. This easy to access feature (selectable on the mode dial) let's the FinePix S700 choose the correct light sensitivity and best-matching shutter speed automatically, for the highest quality digital pictures. i-Flash fine-tunes flash output for shooting with high sensitivity settings. It recognizes scene conditions and determines the optimum flash output to ensure superb results. Subjects in the foreground appear natural, and background detail is bright and clear. The difference is especially noticeable in the natural facial tones of people in your pictures, in close-ups and group photos alike. The FinePix S700 features two different ways to frame and view your shot. Choose from either the large, 2.5" 230k pixel LCD Display, or the .24" 230k pixel Electronic Viewfinder. Both offer a 60/fps refresh rate, and a brilliantly bright and detailed view of your image in either shooting or playback mode. The Finepix S700 features a xD/SD compatible slot, allowing the use of either xD Picture Card or SD media to store and transfer your photos. This new capability assures compatibility with a wider variety of applications than ever before, and allows users to choose the media technology that is right for them.|

"Low-noise, higher-ISO photos; broad set of manual controls; optical zoom operates in movie mode; runs on AA batteries."
Frustrating design; sluggish performance; no optical image stabilization.
The Fujifilm FinePix S700 would be a nice budget megazoom if it weren't hampered by mediocre performance and a frustrating design.

Hello. I got this camera for a great price as it is considered outdated. I've never minded being on the trailing edge of technology sometimes and this unit has inproved the quality of my pictures quite a bit. I find the only thing that is annoying about this camera is the lag time after pressing the shutter button and waiting for the slow save to finish before shooting another pic. Beyond that, quality is better than good, interface couldn't be easier, Drivers are still available online and it is an easy to use camera for a complete camera novice like me.
I am not a professional, but photography has been my major hobby for over
fifty years. I bought my first S700 2 years ago; it was my second digital
camera. Why do I love it? It's good sized; not too heavy and bulky, and not
too small and compact. It won't fit into my pocket, but those that can are
too small for my hands and to me are rather "toy like". This camera has enough
pixels for printing large (like 8x10 easily) and it's 10x optical zoom is
enough for me (greater than that would require a tripod). Adding the digital
zoom gives monster power and yet very good quality photos. I love that!
I love the multiple modes, viz. in macro, flash, movie, and auto to only
mention a few. And those ARE only a FEW. I use this camera often and am
impressed with it's battery life (best or near best in class). Taking
4AA batteries (NiMH) makes life simple and inexpensive! This camera has
been referred to as "entry level". Don't be fooled by that moniker. In
my "film camera" days I was a Nikon person, and took quality for granted.
This Fuji S700 is no let-down. It is "quality built", "featue abundant",
"versatility personnified", and last, but not least, the best value in a
digital camera, period! (about $100-$200) I just bought my second S700
on eBay (for my stereo stuff I'm into now) for $79.00 and it's perfect.
Do I have any complaints? Of course! The camera didn't come with a case.
This camera is great!! I upgraded to newer version, gave my old one to my daughter. I ended up not liking the new one & not taking pictures of my kids & grandkids like I used too, so I came here to eBay & bought another 7.1 for myself. My son also had one, using it at a family get together was how I ended up with my first one, well I dropped it a couple days ago & it's lens stopped working so I came back to eBay again to buy a replacement for him. All 3 of our households have & use regularly our 7.1 & my "newer model" sits in its box. This one is very easy to use, gotta play with it a little at first to get it all set up for how you use it. It also doesn't suck up batteries like alot of digitals do. It takes excellent pictures. I have taken pictures & turned them into family portraits & Im not a pro by any means.
This is my 3rd. Fuji S700. The first 2 were given to family members.I Like the fact that it uses AA batteries, readly available anywhere providing plenty of dependable, long lasting power. The automatic pop-up flash that can be programed in the down position is a must. This camera is easy to use and takes beautiful pictures. Simple, user friendly and affordable. Macro and Super Macro can produce awesome pictures. Thans Fuji for a well built product.
If you want a compact camera that takes BIG pictures this is it. Very clear, no graining when blown up. I hardly use my 35mm anymore. The zoom works great and the pictures are much better than the small package suggests. I've taken a lot of pictures of flying WWII fighters with it, just great. Easy to use. The batteries seem to last foreever. Just regular AA's.
