I purchased this camera for my husband who really prefers to look through a viewfinder rather than at a screen.
The photo quality seems great. The shutter speed is a bit slower than I would prefer, but for the price okay. We will adapt.
I like the small size for the number of pixels and the optical zoom. It carries easily no complicated harness required.
Seller was excellent, prompt, etc.
I brought this product because it attracts me, it's very small n portable, easy to use, it has alot of features
I like the zoom of this product, it has a very power full zoom where the pictures still comes out perfectly clear and clean on max zoom with the use of auto focus
The Fujifilm Finepix s2940 (and the 2950 - they're the exact same camera except the 2940 is only sold at Wal-Mart) are very decent cameras for the price.
I have found this camera to produce acceptable images at up to 8x10 size when used in manual mode with studio lighting. This camera really shines in good, natural light, and I have been able to capture some great landscapes and candid portraits.
This camera does not have manual focus, and the aperture settings are very, very slim, so if you're going to step out of auto mode and try to get creative, you're better off looking for a camera with a manual focus. The auto feature does a good job of capturing your images, and the portrait feature is great for photos of your friends in an outdoor environment.
The battery life is above average, I have spent days shooting on the same set of rechargeable batteries. You get about two to three days from a set of non-rechargeables. To get maximum battery life, you have to change the battery setting in the menu to match the type you are using at the time.
This camera can be a good camera, but if you're not prepared to either read the manual or spend a few days testing out settings, you would be better off choosing a different camera.
The MSRP on this camera is a bit high, and I would strongly suggest passing it up if you're looking at it new in a store, however, if you have a chance to pick one up used it is a good buy.
I would recommend this camera to bargain hunters and price sticklers, as this camera's value is tied to it's price.
I'm really impressed at the quality of this camera. For the price, I can't see how anyone could be disappointed. It is a bit complicated to operate but the higher priced cameras are as well and I'm a bit disappointed in the longevity of the batteries but again, these are common AA's, not some specialty size and carrying spares shouldn't be a negative factor. In short, I feel I got my money's worth with this little jewel and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a superior product. It is a discontinued fujifilm camera but the S2950 is the exact same camera and it's still on the market so if you need the full instructions (like I did) then the S2950 manual at Fuji website is the one to look for. It comes in PDF and explains all the bells and whistles for an enjoyable experience.
I have taken several pictures with this camera and I have to say I'm impressed! it is a small size but the pictures it takes are great. I have taken pictures indoors and out and the only bad ones were because I didn't set it right or had blur due to operator error. Considering the price and the features this camera offers I have to say this is well worth the purchase. One of the best pictures of my fiance and I were taken with this camera! The many settings it has for color pictures has been great and it even has settings for b/w to and I have to say they have come out with amazing results. when I decide to finally break down and get a dslr I'm going to be looking for this cameras version. the menu isn't confusing and so far it hasn't eatten thru batteries like another point and shoot I had. even a friend of mine who has a dslr says the pictures this took were beautiful. he was impressed and even a little surprised it wasn't a dslr. if you are going to get a camera for good photos and decent features I would highly recommend this one over most others out there I like it so much I'm thinking about getting another one to give to my fiance for one of the holidays this year
