Movie synopsis
Jason Voorhees (Richard Brooker) returns again to Camp Crystal Lake, where he drowned nearly three decades before while some negligent camp counselors made out on the beach. Understandably upset by this turn of events, Jason continues to haunt his old stomping grounds, dealing death to those thrill-seeking teens who venture into the woods. This time around, Jason faces tougher victims in the form of a motorcycle gang and dons what is to become his trademark hockey mask. The original theatrical release featured 3-D effects.

3D is a headache!!

This installment is significant to the franchise because it is the first and only "Friday the 13th"
filmed in 3D. The film is loaded with gags to startle the viewer, especially when wearing a pair of
3D glasses. The technology they used to make this film was later "borrowed" (ripped off) to make
other films like "Jaws 3D" and so on. The 3D doesn't show up as great on DVD as it does in a
theatrical setting. If you have a big screen TV it would be more enjoyable than on a smaller or a
standard TV like I have. It does still work on smaller TVs!! But the effect isn't as intense. If you're
going to watch this film on VHS then just forget about the 3D aspect working because the video
quality on VHS, especially Paramount's release for this franchise is so sub par that you'll get no
3D effects, but you will get a headache from trying. The story differs a little in this one. The camp
councelors are still here, but the envolvment of a Biker trio makes the story more fun, and for a short
time makes Jason the hero of the movie. This one is also significant for the fact that this is the first
time Jason wears his infamous mask. The ending to this one is unexpected if you've never seen it,
but know that Jason went on to do several more films. This was intended to be THE last Jason movie.
I'll leave it at that because I don't want to give away anything. The acting is good, the characters are
typical except for Shelly, he's my favorite part of the movie, and the music is great as always. There
is a new camera style, better angles, better lighting, better effects and more blood and gore than in
the previous two films. This one is possibly my favorite installment of the franchise.

The Best in the Series, Especially in 3D!

Do I really have to write what the movie is about? Ok, for those who have not seen any Friday movies - A boy drowned while counselors were getting it on. After that Crystal Lake counselors seem to have a short lifespan. It is an 80's slasher movie - don't expect too much!
If you have not seen any of the Friday the 13th movies start from the begining. Get the first 2, they are pretty good...no really, if you like slasher horror movies they are a must. That being said this 3rd installment is my favorite.

Same thing happens as in the other Friday movies. But if you get to catch it in 3D - you will love it! So fun, the running, screaming, slashing. Aaahhh summer camp!

Friday the 13th Part 3 deluxe edition?

Review For: Friday the 13th - Part 3 (DVD, 2009, Deluxe Edition - Sensormatic)

This movie is what you would expect from a Friday the 13th film it also happens to be the film Jason picks up the signature hockey mask. I don't feel it to be much of a deluxe edition though. The Anaglyph 3D version of the film is terrible
it is misaligned and just doesn't translate well. The Kills are really blurry and aside from an occasional bit of 3D goodness it mostly just gives you a headache. As far as special features we get a single theatrical trailer hardly what one would expect from a deluxe edition. The 2D transfer is done really well.
