Movie synopsis
Despite repeated warnings to stay away, a group of fun-loving but none-too-bright teenagers set out to reopen the eerie Camp Crystal Lake, which closed 20 years earlier after a series of bizarre and unexplained deaths. Now someone is lurking in the woods, spying on the happy campers, and plotting a gory, grisly revenge on those who would disturb the camp's slumber. A horror classic that set the standard for slasher flicks of the 1980s.

Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th has the be the best known 80's slasher series. While some - if not most - would consider Halloween to be the best film of the genre, Friday has to be the one to beat. With 10 movies, countless copycats and millions of fans this movie is a MUST for movie buffs. Even if you are not a big horror fan Friday has that cheesy/low budget/80's vibe that is a genre all of its own.

Most important of all this is the movie that started the "horror movie survival rules". You know - Don't go investigate the strange noise, the only virgin girl is the one to survive, don't take showers - someone always dies in the shower, usually after having sex. The creepy/boozer/mentally challenged guy is NOT the killer. Don't go down in the basement and if you do, don't say "I'll be right back". Don't split up the group. And so on.

Friday the 13th starts with an accidental drowning at Crystal Lake summer camp. After the drowning and the deaths of some counselors the camp is closed. Years pass, the camp is sold and plans to re-open are in the works. The counselors arrive for some pre-season work and one by one they are murdered. Look for Kevin Bacon as one of the counselors! I am not one for spoilers, even though I am sure even those who have not seen the movie know the end, so I am going to stop there.

Great 80's acting, creepy woods, great background story. My favorite of the series is actually the 3rd one. Even better if you can catch it in 3D! But first you have to watch this one...and the second one is pretty good too. I would stop after the 3rd. Maybe watch the 8th one where Jason takes Manhattan - super campy/slasher fun!

Friday the 13th Part 1 Uncut Blu-ray

Review For: Friday the 13th - Part 1 (Blu-ray Disc, 2009, Uncut Deluxe Edition; Sensormatic)

This is exactly what a true friday the 13th fan dream of getting for the rest of films. This movie has both The original Mono and Dolby 5.1 True Hd soundtrack.
The film has been given a crystal clear 1080p Full HD Transfer and is the Uncut edition. That alone is truly amazing but on top of that it´s also featuring a commentary track with director Sean S. Cunningham and cast and crew. Also is including is Secret Galore Behind the gore were tom savini explains the making of the death scenes and some other great special features. The only thing i can complain about is the new artowork for the cover but i would´ve rather have the original artwork as a true purist. Unfortunately the part 2 and 3 did not have the same treatment as this one, though the part 2 had a great picture transfer but part 3 was even worse than the previous dvd editions. They did not do anything to the 2d transfer which i would personaly rather cause the 3d version is very bad, its presented in anaglyph 3d and there is alot of ghost and the colors area terrible with those red and blue glasses. I hope that Paramount will get their act together and relase part 4-8 on blu-ray also and maybe release a boxset also.

Shhh Shhh Shhh Haaa Haaa Haa

That sound always gives me the willies and will for the rest of my life..I was a teenager when this film was released and I don't mind telling you this movie is the reason I didn't go camping with my friends..My Partner and I just started collecting and watching these films this week..we have parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9..we will get the rest later..Last night we watched part 3 we already watched 1 and 2..I admit it I made my Partner turn on the lights before I would move off the couch and she had to go to the potty with me..sorry, but Jason just gives me the creeps...ok lets begin the review for real now...The film opens on a camp set in the late 50's early to mid 60's a killer is loose..many die horrible ugly deaths, fast forward a few years later and a new set of counselers decide to open Camp Crystal Lake..they believe the killer is dead..and so is the reason the killer killed..guess what! BOO! all is not good in comes the killer and once again blood and guts fly..the death count is high in these films I wont review each movie in the series, but believe this THIS set of movies is great for cuddling just be careful you don't choke on your snacks or dump your drink on your cuddle partner..what did I do? (giggle blush) just as the scene got scary I screamed closed my eyes and covered my partners eyes..she laughed for about 20 mins then hugged me close....wanna get closer? watch these films and let the fun begin!

Remember! This one started it all.

Keep in mind that this was the original slasher film. It would have rated 5 stars but so many other ripped it off that its lost a bit of its charm. The acting is okay..catch Kevin Bacon in one of his first rolls. Camp Crystal Lake had been closed for years because of a few murders that happened, a few fires and a little boy drowning. The effects are pretty amazing considering it was done in the early 80's. Betsy Palmer is great!!! Marcy gets axed in the face and the rest is history... a horror classic. Watch it alone in the dark. a must for all horror buffs.
