Okay, first off it's a Bob Carver product (Sunfire), you can't go wrong.
But, to hear it at home... WOW! This 9.5 inch cube w/8" sub woofer packs a punch that many 12" sub woofers simply can not, no matter how big they build their box.
This is only my 2nd Sunfire purchase in my life. My 1st was the TGP-401 pre-amp (http://www.sunfire.com/productdetail.asp?id=2) from the StarPower home theater store located right here in Scottsdale Arizona. It's incredible compared to my last pre-amp which was a Rotel. I am running a 5 channel, 200 watt per, Rotel amp into B&W 805-s speakers time 4 w/the matching center channel. I love Bowers and Wilkins speakers!
Back to this Sunfire Sub Woofer... before buying this I was running a B&W (ASW 650 - http://www.hometheaterstore.com/B_W_ASW650_12_Active_Subwoofer_200_WATT_p/asw650.htm review half way down page) which is a 12" Sub w/built in 200 watt amp (here is the new model Sub that replaces my old ASW 650 - http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/display.aspx?infid=2342&sc=ht). It rumbles quite nicely while handling the LFE's in my "theater"-slash-living room, LOL. I only bought this Sunfire True Sub Jr Subwoofer to fill in what I feel is missing by using bookshelf speakers... that is - mid-range bass.
The first thing I did when I got delivery of the Sunfire Jr is plug it in using the A/C power and Audioquest Sidewinder Sub cable that I had the B&W hooked up to. Therefore using all the same settings from my pre-amp, and optimized room placement from my 7 year old B&W Sub. That's when I got my first listen to the new Sub and my first jaw dropping WOW! This little son-of-a... made the system and room sound like the old B&W was still there. In other words, this tiny 9.5" cube w/8" driver (& 8" passive radiator) was shaking the room from the LFE's, in the movie I chose, w/authority! Rattling things on the walls like my super sized box w/12" B&W Sub does sometimes!
I bought this tiny speaker to fill in some missing mid-bass from about 45Hz to 140Hz or so. Since I have my B&W 12" Sub capped at 45Hz & lower at the built in crossover (never, never at the pre-amp crossover) & my 5 surround bookshelf 805-s B&W's are capped to not play below 130Hz at the pre-amp. Now that I know this tiny Sunfire True Sub Jr Subwoofer can play the super low rumbling LFE's without popping or bottoming out, in other words WITHOUT A PROBLEM!... my next purchase is going to be another Sunfire Sub to replace my B&W 12".
I never, never thought I would replace any of my B&W reference monitors unless upgrading to higher end B&W's because of a sudden windfall of cash, LOL. Now I find myself anxious to get my new Sunfire 12" (http://www.sunfire.com/productdetail.asp?id=8), which BTW is also tiny (13.5" cube for the box) in comparison. I'm going to buy the TS-EQ12 12" Sunfire Sub to replace my B&W 17.5" deep x 16.5" wide x 17" tall box holding a 12" driver. There, I said it... I am replacing a B&W Sub w/a Sunfire Sub.
MINI RECAP: this Subwoofer sounds incredible, it's very tight and responsive. It has a very well rounded & natural sound to it. There's more power available than you'll ever need, unless you have a Super Dome sized living room. The most surprising fact about this Sub is that it could be used as THE only sub for a surround sound system if space & money are limited AND you WILL NOT be sacrificing quality of sound nor "shake-ability" of the listening room. :-)
Hope you enjoy yours as much as I am enjoying mine!
Summary:
Before I bought this I did the same thing your doing right now.....read the reviews!
All I read on this DPS-10 were at min 4 outta 5 stars.
Well now that I got it I fully agree!
The sound is tight and responsive...look very attractive with a piano finish on top.
They can be had for a very attractive price right now (MSRP was $499)
Works very nice with Home Theater as well as Music.
I'm very pleased with it and it REALLY rocks my house with 185watts RMS.
In reality it's a modern replacement for the CT-100 with a lil more kick.
CT-100 was 150watts RMS 375watts max where the DPS-10 is 185watts RMS 375watts max.
CT-100 was Analog where the DPS-10 is Digital Controlled.
Music I listen to:
Classical.....Progressive Jazz....Classic Rock...Techno...Synth
Equipment it's dubbed with:
Yamaha RX-V459 90Watt 6.1
Mains: Polk RT15i's Center: Polk CS150 Sats: Polk Mini Monitors
HD TV: Vizio 32" LCD 720p VX32L
DVD: Sony DVP-NC665P 5 Disk
Music CD: JVC XL-FZ258 5 Disk
Strengths:
Price - Can be found VERY reasonable right now!!
Sound - Digs deep @ 28-120hz and it's clean and tight.
Build - Cabinet is not cheap pressed board junk black with piano finish on top.
Looks attractive in your room and it's not small but it's not huge either.
Cabinet(H/W/D) 16.25" x 14.5" x 17"
Comes with heavy duty rubber stick on feet for hard wood floors.
You put these on when you get it.
Night-Mode Setting is handy so you don't tick off the Wife at 2am! LOL
Velodyne also extended their warranty
Drivers = 5yrs
Amplifier and Electronics = 3yrs
The sub is well worth the money and you won't be disappointed!!
Weaknesses:
NOTHING SERIOUS AT ALL!!
*** Just nit picking here ***
The Panel on top.....
Can't tell by looking as to where the volume level is turned up to.
Would been better if they just had it the old way with knobs on the back.
Heavy @ 60lbs but ANY good sub is!!!
Woulda been nice to have it remote control.....but then I'm just lazy! LOL

I am already the proud owner of other speakers from the Interlude line-up. My first purchase was the IL 40's and an IL 25c center channel. The sound from that set is incredible, but I wanted to use this setup for surround sound. The IL 30's offer the best sound for rear left and right channels, without producing the headache of, "where do I put a bookshelf speaker???" Their height is perfect for seated listening, and the sound produced is refined beyond that which can be provided by smaller speakers. Though not as well rounded as their big brothers, the IL 40's, these smaller floor-standing speakers still give you the depth of bass, the clarity of treble, and an incomparable midrange for music, film, and spoken word. Don't expect them to fill a large room unless you intend to pair them with a center channel and a subwoofer.
For the best in sound quality, treat your speakers to a high quality receiver, such as a Harmon Kardon 154, 254, 347, or 354. Infinity also recommends nothing smaller than 16 awg for speaker wire. Bi-wiring is not required, but it produces better sound quality.
Infinity stopped making these speakers several years ago. That's not to say that the current Infinity line compares. The Interlude series is beautiful in both sound and appearance. Hold out for the best, and you will be pleasantly surprised.
Keep in mind that this is a lower tier sub made for small to medium sized rooms...after you get that in your head then you can forget about all that. Nevermind that most sub $200 subwoofers sound boomy, rattly or even anemic...the Polk audio PSW10 isn't one of those. If you have a fairly small listening area then this sub is all that you need...it won't blow the high dollar big boys out of the water but it's a perfect complement to a moderately priced home theater setup. This sub does a good job with bass lines and drums..but it really shines for Blu-ray watching. It provides tight bass without overpowering the rest of your speakers or getting lost like some cheap subs. Overall, I can't imagine finding a better sub for the price. Go for it!
I bought this Polk PSW10 mainly because of the brand and the price. What I got was a great sounding stylish sub that delivers plenty of crisp clean bass in a 24 x 18 media room. Other reviews say that it is good only for a small room. Don't let that deter you. I was steered to a 10" instead of 12"+ by an audio guru. He told me that you'll find yourself turning a 12" down, thus not using the full potential of the sub (like driving the speed limit in a NASCAR car everyday). He was on the money. I have the sub at about 60% and it's on the verge of being too much at times. Sounds great whether playing a BluRay, watching TV, playing my Ipod, or playing Wii. If this one would crap out tomorrow, I would buy another one just like it tomorrow night.
