Movie synopsis
Co-helmed by WALL-E director Andrew Stanton, FINDING NEMO follows Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks), an overprotective clown fish father, as he desperately searches the farthest reaches of the sea for his missing son Nemo. Marlin's journey leads him beyond the Great Barrier Reef into deeper and darker waters, where he meets Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a forgetful yet optimistic blue tang, and a number of not-so-friendly--and often very hungry--aquatic creatures. Meanwhile, little Nemo finds himself in a dentist's fish tank in Syndey, Australia, along with other underwater captives, including Gill (Willem Dafoe), the group's scarred Moorish idol leader. As Nemo works with his new friends on a plan to escape their tank, Marlin and Dory swim closer, but they'll need more than just fins to get into the dentist's office. This fifth computer-animated outing by Pixar continues the company's remarkable winning streak that began with TOY STORY. Like other Pixar films, FINDING NEMO features a story with heart--this time, a father-and-son tale--and thoroughly charming leads--in this case, Marlin, Nemo, and Dory. And, of course, there's an army of fascinating supporting characters, including Bruce (Barry Humphries), a great white shark on a no-fish diet; Crush (director/screenwriter Stanton), a surfer-dude sea turtle; Peach (Allison Janney), a stuck-to-the-aquarium starfish; and Nigel (Geoffrey Rush), a bold pelican. However, what truly distinguishes NEMO from even its CGI cousins is its stunning depiction of aquatic life, from the colorful creatures on a coral reef to a blue whale on the vast expanse of the open ocean. By combining the aesthetic of a National Geographic marine life documentary with clever jokes and Hitchcock references, NEMO succeeds in its bid to up the ante for animated films yet again. And be sure to watch the credits or you just might miss something!

Nemo is a scream! Ellen Degeneres rocks, nonstop laughs

Review For: Finding Nemo (VHS, 2003)

A girlfriend told me this is one of the best kid's movies because of Ellen deGeneres as the voice of one of the main characters. She's right, it's not just a kid's film, adults can delight in Ellen's wacky constant running ad-libs that are hilarious.
It's also wonderful in presenting the child's point of view as being right and justified: a loving but too fearful and overprotective parent HAS to learn to let go a little, and trust his son a little, so the boy can grow up.

Best of all, it's an accurate view of the magnificent Australian Barrier Reef and all its riot of color and natural beauty in all the 10,000++ species of underwater life. You & I may never get to travel there, but this movie brings it into the living room!

Letting go

Review For: Finding Nemo (VHS, 2003)

The movie tells an inspiring story about letting go of fear to enjoy the beauties of life. A father loses his wife and children except one. Nemo. He has a little fin, which he doesn't believe is a defect but a distinction. His father however, believes that his fin is a flaw and he could only go so far. So out of anger Nemo goes and touches a boat. A forbidden thing. He gets captured and this is where the journey begins. A great family story filled with humour and heart warming moments. Finding Nemo is a classic tale that you can watch again and again.

Finding Nemo VHS

Review For: Finding Nemo (VHS, 2003)

My son was watching "Finding Nemo" at the doctors office one day. Upon leaving the office, we agreed to rent the movie so he could finish watching it. However, no video stores in our area carried the film.
My son did not forget, and continued asking to watch "Nemo." I found the VHS at a reasonable price and decided to bid.
The item was in wonderful condition, and my son was so excited to receive the movie that he carried it all the way home from the post office and had to watch it immediately.
This is a great family film I would recommend to anyone.

First movie/first word

Review For: Finding Nemo (VHS, 2003)

My grandsons first word was "Memo" for Nemo and at 3 he would actually put this movie in the VCR himself and turn it on (and would cry if it was not rewound as he did not know how to work that feature) Our entire family found this movie to be a wonderful story with great scenery/graphics. We had to get a fish tank and some gold colored Platys (of course ALL 4 named Nemo) and the movie was replaced twice as he wore it out. He is now 6 years old and his baby brother- at 19 months- has dicovered "Memo" too. (we also have 100's of Platys-LOL)

Finding Nemo (Disney)

Review For: Finding Nemo (VHS, 2003)

Disney's Finding Nemo is such a fun, sweet movie for kids of all ages, (and adults too!!) Nothing about it is "scary", so little ones will enjoy watching it, but it's not "baby-ish" so big kids will enjoy it as well. Disney and Pixar did a wonderful job creating the ocean scenes--very colorful and realistic. Overall, it's a fantastic family movie.
