A very powerful love story. His deep dark secrets and her very innocents.

WOW!!! First, a friend bought it and loaned it to me, after, it went through several other people. I had no idea what I was getting into when I started reading the first book. I guess the only thing I was told, is that it had a lot of sex! But I sat down and started and couldn't put it down. Not because of the sex, but the story line. Yes the sex is very involved, detailed and does keep the story interesting. But the relationship between Christian and Anastasia is so spell binding to me. How they interact with one another and learn about each other and the depth of feelings that Christian deals with is something that really holds my interest. He has so much compassion and understanding for Anastasia's feelings and teaches her so much. But on the other hand Anastasia, with her innocence and patients and understanding learns so much about Christian, and helps him in ways neither knew she could. The love that develops between these two is so awesome.
After finishing the first book, thank the lord I had the second one, 'Fifty Shades Darker', in hand. It keeps you spell bound, just wanting to know whats going to happen between these two incredible people.
By the time I finished the second book, I had to wait for the third. It drove me crazy. I will admit by the time I was finished with the first book, I had already decided to buy the set. I knew, I'd want to read it again. Its just that good of a story. My set of books arrived 1 day before I finally got the 3rd book, 'Fifty Shades Freed', from my friend. I read the third book and it held my interest just as much as the first.
I think this is the kind of relationship that a lot of us wish we could experiment in our life time. Someone that will cherish you and protect you no matter what. You see this over and over in this series of books. And its all the relationships, with family, friends and every person they interact with.
I have to admit I hated coming to the end of the 3rd book. I wanted the story to go on and on. I wished for a little bit more detail at the end, but it did give closure.
I bought this set of books, because I loved the story from beginning to end and I wanted my own set so I could read it again in my own time. (its been several weeks and I have already started reading again!)
There is nothing I really disliked. It was a learning experience as far as the sex goes. Learned a lot of things I'd never heard of before and found out what a lot of things were, I had only heard about. Very informative!! Heard about a lot of it but you can only imagine.
I just really loved the story and fell in love with the characters.
I have heard that E.L. James is going to be writing a continuation of this series. I can only hope so. I will definitely buy it ASAP!!

Loved the books. Got a great deal so they were worth the money.

I don't normal buy books because I only read them once, but I bought the series because my library won't carry it due to the supposed sexual content. I have seen more desriptive content in other books they carry. I may try to get the librarian to read my copy and then donate them to the library.
It is good to read about characters with flaws, and Christian Grey has got quite a few, perfect on the outside but with many dark secrets that lead him to a life of "must have" control. Ana is a complete innocent thrown into the world of strange yet erotic sexual desires. She is confused by her desires and enjoyment of things some not of the "norm" she understands.
The book is a good read even without the sex scenes, which are a bit repetitive. You can tell the author is not into the whole SDSM scene. A little more research on her part might have helped bring those scenes to life with more realism and still kept it from being pornographic.
I would recommend this book to my friends and since they have found out I have the series a few have already asked to read them. LOL

This is a great and very captivating erotic romance, especially for women

Fifty Shades of Grey written by E.L.James is a beautiful and intelligent written erotic romance. It was published in 2011 and got its most success in 2012. The trilogy is about a young man and woman who met by destiny in a college interview. Anastasia Steel and Christian Grey (the main protagonists) first met in an interview and felt the connection between each other. While the innocent and inexperienced Anastasia wants a romantic relationship with the very attractive and rich, but yet intimidating, bachelor Christian, Christian wants a different kind of relationship - a dominant submissive relationship.

The romantic story is written out of the point of view from a woman - Anastasia. It shows the difficulties sometimes women have to encounter while growing up and going through college and trying to find the perfect fit for life. James tries to show how men have a different perspective of love than women and what problems their relationship can encounter. Besides showing different perspectives of love, James also tries to show how a difficult childhood can influence a person's life, perspectives and thinking in even later life. Even though James is a good looking and very successful man who grew up in a wealthy family, he still suffers from his bad childhood experiences later on in life.

The general theme of the book is the effects of bad childhood experience in later life and differences in sexual practices. Even though I am personally not a big fan of love stories, this different kind of love story is very captivating and entertaining. James uses a lot of descriptive language to explain senses, feelings and thoughts, which makes the book very real. As a woman reading this book I can feel the emotions of the main female protagonist Anastasia.

Nevertheless, this book might not be as interesting to read for everybody. In case you really do not like cheesy love stories and romantic stories, you should probably not read this book as the book can become boring at times, as there are a lot of repetitions. James also writes in a provocative manner that many people might find inappropriate.

Besides all facts, if you do like to read love stories and romantic novels, I highly recommend this book. James is a great writer who makes the story come alive and gets the reader involved in feelings and emotions. It also makes the reader evaluate the importance of a love relationship and think about relationship problems in a different way than you have before.

Absolutely loved this book! I could not put it down. I was completely in the world of Christian Grey & Anastasia Steel. Read this trilogy twice already , plan on a third time . Love it!

to sum it up...WOW..I have heard all the uproar about this book and was hoping it was a good read. Was it?? YES. the author is very detailed about everthing from the first interview with Christian Grey to..well..can't say here :) This book leaves you wanting to read the other 2 books because its a story that has no dry moments. You literally start to fall for the characters
