Movie synopsis
A visual feast combining ancient mysticism, cyberpunk sensibilities, flamboyant entertainment personalities, and gun-toting alien mercenaries. In the 23rd century, Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), an ex-special forces agent who now practices as a down-and-out cabbie, finds himself caught in a struggle to defy a prophesied Evil from destroying the Earth when a mysterious woman (Milla Jovovich) falls into the back seat of his cab. Pursued by both the government and a powerful magnate enlisted by the forces of Evil (Gary Oldman), the woman is the key to Earth's salvation, known only as the Fifth Element. This was French auteur Besson's first offering with Hollywood backing. Academy Award Nomination: Best Sound Effects Editing.

Still one of my all-time favorite films

I know it's even more cheesy today than when first released... but this film is so fun, an all-around treat. First of all, this and Pulp Fiction are Willis' best roles (forget Die Hard!). Next, the cinematography and effects are a visual treat, followed by Gautier's excellent wardrobe, set design and color choices. The plot is one of the few stand-alone sci-fi flicks that successfully encapsulates its unique myth and futuristic predictions - it doesn't need a sequel.

Finally, the director and cast are what pushes this gem over the top. Besson keeps an excellent fast pace, directing his former beau Jovovich in the role she was born to play. Oldman is always the perfect antagonist, and this role seems like eating sweets for him. Willis' cool detachment makes the whole impossibleness seem almost real. But it is the over-the-top performance of Chris Tucker as the fabulous Ruby Rhod that makes this movie "green, baby, it's green."

Because the film is such a visual treat, this especialy is a Blu-ray film worth adding to a collection.

The 5th Element

Review For: The Fifth Element (DVD, 2005, 2-Disc Set, Ultimate Edition)

I Love This Movie.

Everything you need in a movie!

Action packed with shoot outs using guns we wish we could buy O YEA!

Love o glorious love nothing like it to save the world.

Who hates Bruce Willis ? Not me babay he always makes me want to watch a movie.

A half naked woman running around in the whole movie is always a plus!

And comedy also WOW this Movie is like America. A great big melting pot of eveything. This movie will never get old to me it is a keeper. I will always own this movie in every format the tech people can make it in now or the future.

This is Bruce at one of his finest moments and I never understood why this movie never got more press. The special effects still look special even after all this time and special effects have evolved into something that looks all to real at times. I will admit some lines in the movie are a little hooky but to me it does not take away from the movie being good.

If you like Action, Drama , Comedy, LOVE, and saving the world from a dark force that wants to kill the whole planet. Then buy this movie. For guys and girls who agrue about what to watch. Just pop this in and be content.

My take on this MOVIE is best explained in the words of Eric Cartman " Kick ASS"

This movie is "Supagreen".

Review For: The Fifth Element (DVD, 2005, 2-Disc Set, Ultimate Edition)

I absolutely adored this movie from the first time I saw it. It is an extremely well-drawn story, and a very original way of looking into how our future might develop.

It begins 300 years into the past, at an archeological dig site, where a group of aliens appears, giving the basis for the whole story in saying to the priest watching over the dig that the stones are no longer safe, and take what appears to be a sarcophagus. They say that they will return in 300 years, when Evil returns.

This here certainly puts a spin on the typical action science fiction movie. Though there are the typical elements... plenty of fights, a rough n' tough main character (Bruce Willis), a super-powerful maiden-in-distress (Milla Jovovich), with the comic relief (Chris Tucker), and, of course, the descendant of the priest in the first scene to see that everything in prophecy is carried out correctly (Ian Holm).

Though this may have summarized it a bit too much, there is a fantastical way this movie is put together that makes it great. The music, costumes, fights, scenery and storyline just puts a glitter on this that blows the audience away.

The Fifth Element

Review For: The Fifth Element (DVD, 2005, 2-Disc Set, Ultimate Edition)

My favorite movie of all time - bar none! Bruce Willis is the perfect good guy, Gary Oldman the perfect bad guy, Milla Jovovich is... well, just perfect!
With artsy direction from Luc Besson, a great score, spectacular visuals and art direction, the movie is a treat for the senses. It has everything - laughs, villains, bad guys getting dusted, great music, including a brilliant scene filmed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and the futuristic setting is (almost) believable. You get the idea that everyone involved enjoyed being part of this movie, including an outrageous scene-stealing turn from Chris Tucker at his best.
Really, this is a movie to own - and the Special Edition, with the second disc giving you two more hours of features, is absolutely worth it.

BRUCE WILLIS SAVES THE UNIVERSE

This Science Fiction movie has some typical, and some less typical storylines, winding around in the very best texture I have ever seen in any movie. The depth of field is used to show many stories height, or miles away in depth, in graphic special effects, you have to see!! Also, while the aliens are several different types, no confusion is left as they group into good and bad aliens, very nicely. There is an unusual opera, after which everyone dies in a bad shootout, but Bruce and a couple odd new friends who assist him in saving the universe for goodness and life, against evil and death.

I bought this to have a great series of scenes with lovely colors and depth for sci-fi collection. Also because this movie reminds me of early comic books, where trying a new idea was accepted 50 years ago. I wish more ideas of this nature could be tried!!
