Movie synopsis
In this film that epitomizes the American love for baseball, Ray Kinsella, a struggling Iowa farmer (Kevin Costner), obeys a mysterious voice in his cornfield that tells him to replace part of his crop with a baseball diamond, resulting in the magical meeting of baseball heroes from the past, including Shoeless Joe Jackson, and the seven other Chicago White Sox players who were suspended for purposefully losing the 1919 World Series. Even after building the diamond, Ray continues to hear voices, and seeks the help of a hermit-like author in sorting out the mystery, which allows the confrontation of ghosts of other sorts.

Wishful thinking

I have seen this movie a few times and then had a notion to go to Dyersville Iowa to see the field. It is worth it! The field is beautiful and magical. The people are friendly as well. You can't play a organized game there but you can have people out fielding the ball while others hit and run around the bases. Everyone in my party was excited to be there, including others who drove. There was people from Corpus Christi, TX, Boston, LA California, and Florida. All parts of the globe. I think about that while am going to watch the movie. Wonderful!

why should you purchase Field of Dreams DVD

the movie is a classic. I am from Iowa and i have been to the actually field about 20 times, and love going there. the movie is what baseball is really about. The wonderful pasttime of america, and all that it stands for. If you are a baseball fan you should buy this movie and watch it over and over again.

Above average film!

This film is definitely a classic, whether you're a sports fan or not, you'll love the movie! It deals with history, family, and love for the game of baseball. Exciting, emotional, and worthy of buying! A+

Father Son classic

Couple of cheesy scenes, but as a man, son & father, I felt this is a great Father-Son must have movie classic. Tear jerker for most men.
...which is not often. Thought the "making of the movie" in the DVD "extras" was good as well.

Field of Dreams - Excellent Movie!

I love the movie Field of Dreams - not only because it's a great movie, but because it was shot just outside of Dyersville, Iowa - and that's only about 45 minutes away from where I live. I've been to the Field of Dreams a couple of times and always enjoy going out there.
