I have both the original GDEC 1(15W) and now this new GDEC 3 (30W). I love them both. My buddy who also owns both SOLD HIS GDEC 3... Here's the skinny.
The GDEC 3 is amazing, but you're going to have to be a little more computer savvy to use it to its full capacities. Okay, a LOT more. The original does an awful lot too and is much easier. Is this why they still bring in good money? Newer is not ALWAYS better.
I am going to sell one... probably the original, but they both are superb amps. You can really have a blast jammming along to the tracks.
About the GDEC 3 --- FUSE software is very nice. You can convert your ORIGINAL version to a JAZZ version or the BLUES version or the METAL version with a simple download. The sounds you can get and the effects you want are all there.
I have been downsizing. I'm selling off a lot of vintage guitars and amps and pedals and everything. I love my STRAT VG and this GDEC. I don't see a reason to keep much of anything else anymore.
I was tired of screwing around WANTING one of these GDEC 3s... I lost a bunch of them in EBay auctions so I put in a high bid and probably paid too much for mine. SO WHAT? It's great!!!!!
Oh! And get the cover... the one MADE FOR THE GDEC 3 that has the embroidered Fender logo. It fits better and is made of a better material.
I bought this small amp to use for recording and
home practicing. It is a lot louder than I expected
and has a lot of 'tweaking' that can be done to find
the sounds that you like.
Those that don't like to 'tweak' the controls might not care for this as they would probably not care for all of the factory
settings and patches, but it's not hard to learn how much fun that this little solid modeling amp can be to play through.
The competition for this amp is Roland's MicroCube series and Line6 mostly, although many others are hitting the market as well as Fender's own "Mustang" series amplifiers.
I use this for recording by running a line out from headphone jack to mixer/USB interface but I've also tried using it from headphone output to mic input on computer and it still works and sounds great! The other cool thing is that you can plug in an MP3 player or aux source and jam along with it on your amp with all of the output coming through as one thru the amp.
It's about 20 lbs and lots of fun and very versatile amp for the money or as they say "a good bang for the buck".
Hello there fellow guitarists of EBAY
My opinion of this 30 watt Fender is mostly favorable at the under $200 price point. There are some good sounding effects as well as drum/bass patterns which sound right to jam along with. Very good for a headphone practice amp late night.
Excellent practice amp. Many features are included with the amp and yet it is still easy to use. Can play guitar through it straight up clean like any fender amp or mess around with the endless tonal possibilities. The amp includes a tuner, metronome, backing tracks, pedal effects, rack effects, recording software, multiple inputs, and multiple outputs, with all of these features there is no need for anything else but a guitar and a cable. It is possible to load up a SD card with music and make this a glorified jam box.
Make sure you buy the newest version of the G-DEC 30 Fender combo amp. I bought the newest model before this one with a 10" speaker and a tweeter and it just blew me away. Especially the Jazzmaster amp setting. It has USB midi for Fuse software manipulation. I thought it would be great to have regular midi in & out inputs so I could play synth guitar and electric guitar simultaneously using one amp; but, the earlier model with this feature doesn't have the many extras and it has pitifully bad guitar sound. I think the speaker is actually a 10" not a 12" as listed. I tried to use this earlier model also at a live gig and everyone noticed the poor sound quality. I swapped it out after the first set. Remember to only buy the newer G-DEC 30 with 10" and tweeter and you will be in love! The newest model also has the SD card feature!
