| Early in 2004, two writers and Red Sox fans, Stewart O'Nan and Stephen King, decided to chronicle the upcoming season, one of the most hotly anticipated in baseball history. They would sit together at Fenway. They would exchange emails. They would write about the games. And, as it happened, they would witness the greatest comeback ever in sports, and the first Red Sox championship in eighty-six years. What began as a Sox-filled summer like any other is now a fan's notes for the ages. | |

| "A sweet romance...the details are priceless."-- Kyle Smith,People "Faithful is ultimately a quasi-religious book about what all great religions should be founded upon: love -- in all its blindness and terror and euphoria and purity and, yes, addiction." -- Dennis Lehane, Entertainment Weekly "Faithful isn't just about the Red Sox. It's also about family, friendship, and what it truly means to be a baseball fan and to be -- well, faithful, come hell or high water....The season was full of priceless moments, and King and O'Nan catch nearly all of them in amber." -- Frank Mosher, The Boston Globe "King and O'Nan are the kind of fans who make for great baseball companions: know-ledgeable, opinionated, funny, and irreverent." -- Bob Minzesheimer, USA Today | |

Stephen King is an incredible writer (even those books that just didn't seem to meet the standard I've come to expect were still well written). The funny thing is that his quality and talent for writing fiction that would tend to lean more towards the fantasy/horror end of the spectrum has lent itself in a way that helped make this non-fiction story just as engrossing.
I have read all of Stephen King's books so being a bit of a fan, I'm not sure how impartial my opinion could be. I recommend this book if you are an avid sports fan (more specifically an avid baseball fan) or if you are a Stephen King fan who has read some of his more familiar works and is just interested in seeing a different side of the mans talents. Other than that - if you take my word for it, you're on your own ;)
I began reading this book because I love Stephen King. I couldn't put it down because of the picture painted by King and O'nan. They remember that unforgettable season and tell stories about this. Both huge Red Sox fans, they put a spin on the 2004 season leading to the World Series from a Bosox fan's perspective. Great read. Couldn't put it down. Also would make a must have in your Red Sox World Series collection.
GREAT READ FROM SUPERFAN STEPHEN KING OF BANGOR, MAINE. IF YOU LOVE THE RED SOX, THEN READ THIS BOOK. SO FUN! GO RED SOX!
Stephan King continues to demonstrate his versatility as a writer. What another great notch he has etched into his legacy as one of the most important writers of our time. For another example of King stepping outside the box, check out his memoir ON WRITING.
Being an avid Stephen King fan & collector, I saw this book as a twist to my collection of his Horror Novels.I am not a "sports fan" as such but Mr. King rarely detours from his well known ability to give his readers nightmares.
This book caught my eye simply because of the Authors and its total difference From Kings usual books.
