Review For: Fable III (Xbox 360, 2010)
After finishing the game, I have been forced to edit my review.
I was a huge fan of Fable 2, I loved the interaction with the people, the cities, and how you could make the game your own. Fable 3 is a good successor to the Fable storyline. The main plot is engaging and the wit/humor found within keeps you laughing. The game does a good job of mixing up the action, bringing you to different places and having you accomplish varying tasks throughout.
However, Fable 3 is essentially a cut down version of Fable 2. While removing the menus was generally a good thing, the Fable 3 team went too far. I list the Pros/ Cons here, but my final verdict is that unless you know what is coming at the end of the game, the end decision will ruin the endgame (the part after the plot is done) almost guaranteed. I won't give away anything, but I strongly recommend you either be willing to play through twice, or rent the game. I was extremely angry at the Fable team after the plot was over. Forcefully shutting my xbox off, controller on the ground, angry.
Pros-
-No Menus
When I say no menus, I mean none what so ever, instead you have your sanctuary. An area that you can instantly teleport to whenever you want. Inside is your armory, dressing room, trophy room etc. All your items are displayed on mannequins and on the wall so you can pick and choose without going through layers and layers of menus. Even saving has an area in your sanctuary (not very obvious in the beginning). It sounds like it would be weird, but it really adds to the immersion of the game and works very well. A big map does the traveling when you can select areas for your indicator trail to go (same as fable 2) or fast travel to the areas that you've already visited. You can also zoom in on cities that you've visited and see more information about them. The entire idea may sound weird, but it really adds to the continuity of the game.
-Alive weapons
When I heard in the trailer that the weapons were 'alive' and would change as we used them I thought it would be neat, but weapons probably wouldn't be that different. Boy was I wrong. A friend came into my world, same levels as I was, and ALL of our weapons were totally different. I'm not saying the designs or colors, but EVERYTHING. Shape, size, color, symbols/color of symbol. Everything. This provides a very cool customization of weapons.
-World is much bigger
And I'm not kidding, after eight or nine hours of Fable 2 you basically had explored everything. I've played at least that much and have only seen five or six of the at least twenty or so villages/areas. It's huge.
-No allocation of skill points
Unlike Fable 2, where you had to choose areas to put your different skill points into, Fable 3 has a much more streamlined process. You get (basically xp, but I forget what they are called) which are earned through kills, quests, and talking to villages. Inside the sanctuary you can visit this area called 'Road to the Kingdom' or something along those lines. Inside, there is a figurative path on how close you are to ruling Albion, with chests and gates along the way. Every little way in the game, a gate is opened allowing you access to more chests, which can be opened with a requisite amount of 'xp'.
-Better Graphics
Title basically speaks for itself. The graphics are more polished although I have encountered some stuttering.
-More
Very generally, more spells, more swords, more people, and more flourishes. You can weave s

Greatest RPG of all time

Review For: Fable III (Xbox 360, 2010)
Fable III is far and away one of the best console RPGs of this generation. The Fable series has always been known for an incredibly driving story, solid gameplay, and beautiful visuals.
That being said, Fable III is a pretty large departure from some of the core elements of Fable II. Not to say this is bad - on its own, Fable III is absolutely amazing. When compared to some of the systems from Fable II, however, you can kind of see what Fable III might be lacking. Yes, the weapons are more customizable, but I always felt like "legendary weapons" should be a reward, n...Read full reviewot a purchase. In Fable II, you have to work for those legendary weapons, i.e. the Daichi and the Dragonstomper. In Fable III, you literally walk into a shop and purchase them. That's not to say that the ones you buy in the shop are going to be the best, but they're still pretty damned good.
Beyond that, the experience system has been completely revamped. I personally liked Fable II's experience system, and would have preferred a similar system, but overall the Fable III guild seal system works very well. It does remove a bit of the "grind fest" that one could experience during Fable II if you were pushing for a particular 'talent,' so to speak.
Overall, Fable III is an amazing game with an amazing story. Taken aside from the rest of the Fable series, the game is damned near perfect. I just have some small gripes about the changes they've made from II to III, but that's just me. I'll still be playing it for a long time to come.

A lot different than Fable 2.

Review For: Fable III (Xbox 360, 2010)
I'll make this easy on myself, and easy to read, by listing it by statistic and then explaining:
(Graphics, 8/10) Not particularly awe-inspiring, but it has an interesting style, and I like it.
(Game-play, 9/10) It's fun to fight in this game, and I spent a lot of time fighting. However, if you're anything like me, you'll become fixated with using magic, which can get old rather quickly. Out of all of the kills I achieved, which was over 10,000, at least 80% of that was with magic. The melee system, which is actually quite deadly if you upgrade it completely, can be very fun. While magic is slow and deadly, using Swords and Axes is actually a lot faster and just as deadly. Only difference is that using magic kills everyone around you, rather than attacking individual targets. (Which you can also do with magic, but it's not very effective against most enemies, at least not in comparison)
(Online, 8/10) Well, I didn't care much for the online capability this game had, but when I found out it was a massive improvement from Fable 2's attempt, I had a feeling it might be worth trying out. It's actually really well done. Their are a few difficulties with trying to enter/change areas that happen every now and then, but otherwise it's a solid experience. Aside from the fact that almost nobody has a headset on (thus making most online situations awkward) it's about all you can expect from an online experience of this genre. It's stable, and you and a buddy (Or an anonymous orb flying by) can go around killing anything you want, breaking into shops, etcetera.
(Achievements, 8/10) About the same as Fable II. You get a lot of achievements on the way through (Probably 20-25 out of the 50 in total) and the rest come with completing side quests, and doing misc. things like playing online for long enough with somebody else.
(Lasting appeal, 9/10) I spent a lot of time playing this when I had it. I'd have to say the main storyline was rather short, but it was fun treasure hunting online with anonymous people, especially with your dog companion constantly alerting you to a nearby treasure.
(Overall, 9/10) This game, to me, is like a simplified RPG. It's fun, solid, rather long lasting, and it has an enjoyable online experience. I recommend playing with friends online, though - instead of random people.

Review For: Fable III (Xbox 360, 2010)
Theres a lot to like and love .. but also dislike. First of all the games graphics are by far better than the first two games. The storyline is very interesting and always leaves you wanting more and play more. You get hooked very easily. But one thing im going to have to say about this game is that the only downfall so far is the intense amount of glitches. On a few missions the game lags a bit, like if you were using a terrible wireless connection. Ive experienced white screens where you can hear yourself casting spells and being attacked, but not being able to see the screen. If your looking to buy it. Don't buy it because its all the hype, wait till the price comes down & all the glitches are fixed. I love this game personally & i would recommend buying it to a friend. <3
