Eternal Champions

This is a dated but cool game for sega genesis. Its considered a classic.Unfortunately it didn't get quite the recognition as fighting games such as mortal kombat or the street fighter series. The plot to this game is you play as a number of assassin like warriors from different time pereiods,to put and end to this war god and become the true eternal champion. The game has its signature moves similar to street fighter, and its fatalitys similar to mortal kombat. The overkills are pretty cool you have to hit your opponent at a certain spot, and cause just enough damage. The overkills are just another name for a stage fatality similar to mortal kombat 2.I liked this game overall, but it's not for everyone considering it's quite difficult.

In my humble, always right, opinion the best fighter.

I have played a lot of fighting games. The story is usually garbage. The gameplay is usually one-dimensional (read MK fatality). The graphics are often much below what other genres have (Virtua Fighter, Time Killers). None of these issues are prevalent in this game. It is 2D fighting at its best. Each fighter's style is modelled directly after a real fighting style (unlike MK). Each fighter has an indepth back story. I can't complain about this game. I bought it specifically because I had to own what I consider to be the greatest fighting game ever made. Shame on Sega Japan for cancelling the project prior to the third installation. EC is just a better game than the other Sega juggernaut, Virtua Fighter.

An Awesome Classic!

This classic is awesome for alot of reasons:
#1 Loads of multi-player modes, like Tournament mode, Battle Room, and Regular.
#2 Each stage has a finisher wich is performed by killing your opponent in a certain spot.
#3 Loads of possible moves, blocks, punches, kicks, projectiles, and forcefields
#4 Nice graphics boasting a half-anime half-digitized actor look to it
#5 Compelling story-driven characters add to the feel
#6 Killer animation and combos to blow your enemies away
#7 All new half-Street Fighter half-Mortal Kombat gameplay to meet you half way
#8 Challenging fights lead up to facing the Eternal Champion
#9 Each character has a good ending when they beat the Champion
#10 You can lose against the Eternal Champion and get the bad ending
#11 Easy button presses to perform specials
#12 Hardly any glitches to be found
#13 Entertaining taunts each character can say
All in all, it's a good opening leading to the 1995 game Eternal Champions: Challenge From The Dark Side for the Sega CD

I bought this game because it brings back some fun memories. It is also a great fighting game and has an interesting choice of characters all with special abilties. not too violent(although I would recommend it for teen and up).just a fun one on one fighting game .
