    Product Information
The Epson Stylus R280 is a desktop printer created to produce high quality photos and documents quickly and efficiently from any PC or Mac computer. An ultra high-definition 4 x 6-inch photo takes just 11 seconds to print. With this digital photo printer, black and white documents print at 37 pages per minute and color documents at 38 pages per minute. This Epson inkjet printer connects to a computer via USB port. Capable of printing borderless documents and photos, the Epson Stylus R280 prints on CDs, DVDs, bond paper, envelopes, matte paper, plain paper, and all photo paper including glossy and semi gloss types. An 8.5 x 44-inch print is the maximum document size for this digital photo printer. This Epson inkjet printer has a 17.7 x 11.1 x 7.4-inch dimension and weighs 12.5 lbs. Epson R280 Printer - A super machine - 100% pleased

What a great printer, not only does it print studio quality photos but it also prints directly on cds and dvds. And with the 6 seperate ink cartridges, you only replace the color you are out of, no wasted ink just because one color is empty. And as far as document printing, well this printer is very fast. It comes with a great photo software set and full ink sets. With most printers you get what they call starter inks that are only half full or less, these inks are full just like the replacement inks. And they offer the 77 inks that seem to last 30-40% longer than the standard 78 inks. And as far as support, Epson has a great support staff. I called them with some questions about the many features of this printer and those guys know their stuff. And this printer is full of extra options and many ways to fine tune whatever you are printing. Oh and did I mention the direct disc prints look just as good if not better than the retail prints and you can print anything you want on them, pictures text ect. That way my disc are always personal and not like anyone elses. Also you can buy ink directly from the Epson web site at a great price and if you order 3 or more ink cartridges you get free shipping and in most states no tax. I am so glad I bought this Epson printer and not any of the other brands I was looking at. I am sold on Epson, I will never buy another brand again. They also offer an all in one printer in this line and I am buying one of them too very soon for my main computer. And the drivers are already out for the Vista operating system. I have Vista on my notebook and XP on my PC and it work flawlessly on both. Just load the boxed software for XP or download the Full drivers from the website for Vista. Thanks to Epson I now have the best printer I have ever owned and I have owned many printers. And as per Epson specs. the photos last 98 years framed or 200 years in a photo album. One fine machine no doubt, I would recomend Epson to anyone that asked. Get one for yourself, I am sure you will love it.

Good fast CD printer, needs some improvement.

I bought this printer for the CD printing feature and I have never used it to print photos or text so this review wont mention that. This printer is replacing an EPSON Stylus Photo R300, which I will be refering to in the section about the CD tray.

The printer is large, larger than a toaster oven, and very heavy. I believe the weight is do to the printer's inner metal frame and not because it is made from thick strong plastic like other EPSONs are. The printer lid and paper tray cover are made from thin flimsy plastic and flex a lot when handled. The paper tray is removable and can be put in to to different slots in the front of the printer depending on what you are printing. There is a lower slot for printing paper and an upper slot for printing CD's. The paper tray is held in the printer very loosely by a large and small peg on each side of the tray. The small beg is what holds the weight of the tray and feels strong, which is good because when you pull open the paper tray cover, the paper tray falls hard, putting a lot of stress on the pegs.

The CD tray is much better than the one in my old Stylus Photo R300. It is made of a stronger and thicker plastic and is shorter, but wider. The CD tray now has one thick black tab at the front of it, this replaces the small clear tabs that broke off easily on earlier trays. Also, the CD tray no longer slides out of the back of the printer when printing, which helps prevent some CD jams. I am however confused by EPSON's lack of a way to store the CD tray. With how large the printer is, it should be easy to include a small slot in which to store the CD tray when it isn't in use.

The Photo R280 seems to be quieter then the R300 and prints smoother, which is great for wobbly desks. It prints a full color, full label CD a little faster than the R330 could.

Over all, it is a good desktop CD printer if you are gentle with the paper tray and paper tray cover. If you travel a lot, I would recommended buying the R300 because it is smaller, a little lighter and the plastics seem stringer.

    Epson Stylus Photo R280 ROCKS!

I was looking for a printer that can print directly onto a DVD and also have great quality prints. I heard good things about the R280 from professionals and consumers alike. This printer uses a special inkjet, Epson Advanced Micro Piezo with DX5 technology. It uses 6 individual ink tanks, so if you buy them retail at Staples, they run $15 each. It can get expensive. I do a lot of printing, so I us a CIS (Continous Ink System) which I bought right here on ebay and that will save you a lot of money in the long run. Setup was fairly easy and straight forward. I've been using this printer for about 8 weeks now and I've had no complains. It is very reliable so far. Pictures turn out great and you can't tell it was printed from an inkjet. Photos comes out as clear as if developed at Walgreens. The resolution is an amazing 5760x1440 dpi! It also print pretty quick, up to 37 pages/min - Black draft - Letter A Size and up to 38 pages/min - Color draft. For the price (ave. $100 including shipping), the Epson Stylus Photo R280 can't be beat!

Epson R280 Review & Fix For Documents spacing changed

I Bought this Printer "Epson R280" as a second printer so I could inexpensively print directly onto Cd's and Dvd's. Disks come out looking quite nice, and print in just a couple of miniutes. Apears well built and seems like it will last as well. I would have liked to see some sort of clips under top cover to store the CD Print Tray when not in use, but I sapose I'm just nit picking. I had an issue that has a simple fix, but was a bit difficult to figure out, so I'll explain my issue and the fix here. After installing the Epson R280 Printer, driver and software, I then noticed that documents I had previeously created in Word Perfect had changed (spacing was different and pages ran onto other pages and it messed up page Headers/numbers etc.) After some research I found out that Word Perfect Gets its spacing/margin settings from the printer driver. The Epson Printer drivers settings are different than my other printers driver settings. Since when installing the Epson printer it set itself as the Default printer, Word perfect then took the settings from the new epson printer driver, and thus caused my documents to change acordingly (all messed up). Thankfully the Fix was to Simply Set My Default Printer Setting back to my Original Printer, that was set as default when the document was created. Simply Goto - Start > Control Panel >> Printers and Faxes >> Then Right click the printer you want to set as default(the printer that was default when your documents were created) and left click <set as default> in drop down menu. Thats it, your documents will again appear as they did before installing the Epson Printer. And when you wish to use the Epson printer, just make sure that when you go to print something, and your print job window comes up, that you choose the Epson printer in the drop down window. So far I'm Liking This Printer. A Great Low Cost way To Print Nice Professional Looking CD's and DVD's.

Epson Stylus R280 Great little Printer

This printer has great print quality but the thing I like best is the ability to print on CD's and DVD's. I can make my own professional looking media easily. Also it has 6 ink cartridges which are inexpensive to buy aftermarket and prints nice photos on photo paper.

Ease of use, quality of printing and expense of ink make this a good choice for anyone doing photos or printing on Media. It's better than my R220 and it's EPSON which I think are the best injet printers out there.
