The band's post-Green Day pop-punk leaps out of the speakers with zero subtlety and maximum aggression. Guitars alternately blaze and chug over breakneck rhythms, while the vocal melodies pay homage to the time-honored pop hook tradition. Despite the band's four-on-the-floor approach, the arrangements are regulated by careful, radio-minded production for a more accessible sound.

Editorial Reviews
...a geeky, three-chord rocker that employs a locker room sense of humor....While Blink 182 does slow down punk's pace, making it accessible to the pop-happy masses, this small concession hardly dilutes the band's potency.
CMJ (19990531)

3 stars out of 5 - ...bright, three-minute pop tunes with adolescent vigor....full of songs about frat parties, making out, s***** jobs and, yes, bottoms....More fun than Crass, at least.

3 stars (out of 5) - ...gnarly enough to forment the kind of anti-everything rebellion that spawned rock & roll way back in the day....more power to 'em.

Blink-182's GREATEST CD EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely love Enema of the State. I love every single song on the CD and they are all catchy. I can sing each song on that CD (which scares some people). My favorite song of all time is on that CD, and that is All The Small Things. If you haven't already heard this song (which is impossible, in 1999 the music video was #1 on MTV for ten weeks straight and it was the #6 most listened to song), you must hear it and see the music video. I love this CD and anyone else that likes any type of rock music will, too.

A landmark album in the history of pop-punk

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This is without a doubt Blink 182's breakthrough album. This is were they found their own sound.

After the relative success of their first two albums (Cheshire Cat in 1995 and Dude Ranch in 1997) and the departure of their original drummer Scott Raynor, the band was clearly ready for a change.

While the first two albums present a more classic and unpolished punk rock approach, this album is a clear step ahead in terms of production and songwriting.

But the most important change for Blink from this album on was in terms of performance and it came through their new drummer Travis Barker, one of the world's most outstanding drummers of any genre of music who was cruelly underrated for a long time for playing a style of rock that wasn't (and still isn't) considered to be "serious" enough.

Barker's drum playing elevated Blink's music to a whole new level of both songwriting and performance.

The combination of all of these facts along with the addition of famous producer Jerry Finn, who helped polishing the mixes and made the band sound much more focused, turned this album into a worldwide success, and Blink into a world famous band, instead of just a local punk rock phenomenon.

This is the very heart of Blink 182's career after their raw and highly humoristic punk rock sound and before their mor sophisticated and darker pop sound of their latest work. It clearly influenced a whole bunch of punk pop bands in a search of a more "teenage-sounding" punk rock, and its a perfect introduction to Blink 182 and to understand their music and their impact.

Definetely worth buying!

Final Verdict: Recommended

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

The songs on the CD are great and they really bring out the good times of Blink 182. All The Small Things was a really big hit and so was What's My Age Again. Those 2 songs were the reason I got this album. I actually got into some of their other songs too, such as Adam's Song and Aliens Exist. The album was great because I got to listen to some of their older tunes, but if you want to listen to more of the popular Blink 182 songs than I would go with their Greatest Hits album.

Aliens Exist

This is an extremely well produced and professional recording. That's probably why I have so much trouble with it. I could go into what's wrong with punk music today and how it has lost it's punk rock edge but you've heard all that before. If you're looking for some pop music buy this. If you're a rebel, avoid like the plague. 2 Stars.
