Fabulous aid to understand your baby!

I was very intrigued with the idea of this and it proved to be valid. The examples and personal testimonies were clear and very interesting. I was impressed at how clearly the babies do communicate their needs with different sounds. The different cry sounds are clearly identified and vivid examples are shown. I wish I had this when my children were born! My great grandson was born recently and he clearly performs these sounds as described and demonstrated on this DVD. It has made my granddaughter's first child experience so much more relaxed since she is more confident. It really saves wear and tear on both mom and baby since she immediately knows what he needs and tends to that need right away, preventing him from crying endlessly while she "trial and error" tries to figure out what to do for him. It truly is amazingly simple. Every person taking care of an infant should have this DVD! The lady that made this has a "photographic memory" of sounds. You would be familiar with this as in people that can hear a tune and play it back "by ear". She first identified these cries with her own baby and then compared to other babies. Eventually she researched cries of babies in different countries. All babies cry the same due to the body's reaction to different discomfort stimuli. Most mothers eventually tune in to their baby's cues but it's trial and error and they generally have no clear concise understanding all the time. This DVD is a fast track to clear understanding with real results. There are 2 DVDs. They recommend you view the first one and wait 2 weeks to view the second one. I think you should play them both to begin with and review them as needed. I also strongly recommend you watch the comments (or testimonials) of users that she has recorded at the end on both discs. They are just as beneficial as the first part of each disc.

Dunstan Baby Language DVD

The Dunstan Baby Language DVD is awesome. It helps you to learn your baby's
cries and to quickly determine your baby's needs. It really takes the guesswork
out of caring for your baby. Creates a less stressful environment for mom and
baby. My friends have it and they say it works! I cannot wait to try it on my
baby. (due May 23!)

Blame it on Oprah.

The idea of Dunstan Baby Language is fascinating. However, this DVD leaves you with more questions than answers. It really was nothing more than a 2 disc advertisement for the creators group workshops. I would not recomend this product and I am sorry I bought it. As a baby may say, it was just Eh.

A little strange...

Don't get me wrong. I think the content of the DVD is very good. I totally buy into the fact that babies have a language, and I have applied the concepts with my baby. The information is pretty basic....5 cries means 5 things. I like that they give many examples of the cries so that the listener gets a good feel for what each cry sounds like. The problem is, all of this could have been done in a 10 minute video. To fill up the rest of the space, they show some (what seems to me) very obvious ways to calm a baby. For example, one cry means, "I'm hungry." Seems pretty obvious that you would then feed the baby. So, to fill up time, they show all the positions in which you can feed a baby. It just struck me as silly. I'd rather have paid less and just gotten the basic information. If I had seen the videos beforehand, I probably wouldn't have bought it, but I have gleaned some good information regardless.

The info is useful and is a big help!

I am glad I bought this DVD second hand and did not spend $40 on it. While the information is helpful and very useful, the DVD is horrible. Patricia Dunstan basically reads off cue cards the entire time and both DVD's contain a total of 30 mins together..could have been one disc. I wish they would have included more info, real life stories of mothers who have used the language, etc. I am happy I purchased it, but I am pretty sure I could have looked it up on utube and got the same information.
