I had the videos on Vhs, but I sold them when I knew it was coming to dvd. Now, I have the Complete Set of Dvd's. I have really enjoyed the Dukes of Hazzard since they originally aired for the first time in January, 1979. This show became an instant hit on Cbs. This show was narrated by Country Music singer Waylon Jennings who also performed the famous theme of the show "GOOD OLD BOYS". It is about a couple of (Robin Hood) type boys with their flaming arrows, and are assisted by their Orange, 69' Charger otherwise known A.K.A "THE GENERAL LEE".
*Bo ( John Schneider)
*Luke (Tom Wopat)
*Daisy ( Catherine Bach)
*Uncle Jesse (Denver Pyle)
*Hazzard County Commissioner Boss Hogg (Sorrell Booke)
*Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane (James Best)
If you like car chases, car jumps, and running from the law. Then this is your show.

Like so many others of my generation, I grew up watching this show, and the locations almost feel like home to me, the cast like family. The people, the places all became so embedded in my psyche, along with the endless, exuberant car chases, and the authentic soundtrack. The opening credits, with that unmistakable song, still give me a warm nostalgic glow to this day. Daisy Duke became the standard by which all women in my life would come to be measured, and the Bo and Luke were my role models. Sorrell Booke and James Best, both highly trained, experienced character actors, are often accused of playing roles that were beneath their considerable talents, but really their portrayals of Boss Hogg and Rosco P. Coltrane are amongst the most instantly recognisable and enduring creations to have ever lit up a TV screen. And the General Lee.... the most famous car in the history of TV, again, like Boss and Roscoe, and Daisy and all the Dukes, has become an icon. The Dukes of Hazzard was the second-most-popular TV show in America in its time, only narrowly beaten by Dallas, and, I ask you, which has survived the passage of time with dignity and integrity intact? YeeeeeHaaaaahhh !!! ..........
i love the dukes of hazzard because there is vulgar language and no nudity in it and it's funny and john schneider, tom wopat, catherine bach, sonny shroyer, sorrell booke, denver pyle, rick hurst, ben jones, and james best all play very good parts and i love to watch them act in movies, and you couln't find no better movie to watch.
To be honest I purchased this DVD on eBay because it was cheap! However, I am glad that I did buy it. If you were into the original TV series this is the DVD box set to buy. Not only does it obviously start from the beginning of the series, but the bonus features are cool too. For instance, the commentary with Catherine Bach and John Schneider on the first episode was quite interesting. There were some points of trivia right from the people that were involved with it from the beginning that I had not heard before. Personally I feel that this is an entertaining DVD set, but I probably would not pay full price for it - unless Daisy or the General Lee came with it as a bonus. ;-)
In the late 70's and early 80's, television viewers fell in love with The Dukes of Hazzard, a weekly foray into the fictional setting of Hazzard County, Georgia. Cousins Bo and Luke Duke (John Schneider and Tom Wopat) spent each episode trying to do good, while the loveable “Boss" Hogg (Sorrell Booke) concocted various schemes for making money and having the Duke boys, who always foiled his plans, thrown in jail for violating their probation (the result of a deal with the federal government to end the centuries-old Duke family tradition of bootlegging).
Joining Bo and Luke are their Uncle Jesse (Denver Pyle), a grandfatherly figure who owns the family farm, and Cousin Daisy (Catherine Bach), whose skimpy shorts coined the cultural term “daisy dukes". Along with “Crazy" Cooter (Ben Jones), the local mechanic, they create a formidable threat to the money-making shenanigans of Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane (James Best) and the owner of seemingly every business entity in Hazzard County, J.D. “Boss" Hogg. But critics will argue that the true star of the show was the General Lee, Bo and Luke’s bright orange Dodge race car with the Confederate flag pasted on its roof…
The Dukes of Hazzard DVD offers a number of famous episodes, including the series premiere “One-Armed Bandits," source of the video clips that would appear in the opening sequence of the show for much of its duration. Other notable episodes include “High Octane" in which Jesse Duke outsmarts Boss and Roscoe in his quest to win the government’s alternative fuel contest, and “Route 7-11" in which Bo and Luke unwittingly become part of an illegal gambling ring until Jesse comes to save the day. Also included on the first season Dukes of Hazzard DVD are The 20th Anniversary Hazzard County Barbecue documentary including John Schneider and Catherine Bach, Dukes Driving 101: A High-Octane Salute including interviews with professional racecar drivers, and The Dukes of Hazzard: Return of the General Lee video game preview…
