Awesome fun packed entertainment on 5 disks. I loved every minute of this season! Highly recommended for all Dragon Ball fans!!!
This season is very insane. Goku takes on the Red Ribbon Army by himself and lives to tell about it. Then he fights in Baba's tournament to fight weird opponents including his deceased grandfather Gohan. Overall it's very awesome!!
Like all of the Dragonball and Dragonball Z seasons, these discs are in thin packaging (very handy since tv series tend to take up lots of space) and are set up bare bones fashion. There's even a handy Marathon option that cuts out the most of the intro show and ending credits, so you can just go onward between each episode. However, I do wish that they hadn't used single sided DVD's, since that would reduce the number of discs down to 2 or 3 instead of 5.
As for the content, parents should know that there are several times where Goku is presented full frontal nude, although this is brief and there isn't much detail. Once, Bulma is shown for a brief second topless (episode 71), but it's so fast you might not see it.
If you have kids, I'd recommend this series for kids at age 10 and up, because of the different standards of decency the Japanese writers originally had. The artwork isn't censored, but yes some of the dubbed dialogue changes what was being said into something less questionable (Roshi and Shen make crude remarks about grabbing Bulma's breasts in the subtitles, but in the dubs it's only kissing). Also, the characters seem far less bloodthirsty in the dubbed audio version.
More importantly, this tv series seems aimed at boys who are around age 10-12. Any younger kids won't get many of the jokes, but overall, this is a relatively inoffensive show, especially compared to other children's shows. I'd recommend you watch a few episodes online via YouTube or something before you buy just to make sure you don't find it objectionable for your kids. Compared to a PG13 movie, this series is far less to write home about.
I rather enjoyed the whole series, as it imparts some ethical behavior (Goku is quite the good hearted kid), and the show doesn't condescend to kids' intelligence. Even as an adult, I like the series. They've got a tendency to never really take themselves seriously, as some characters seem aware of just how silly things are.
Really great! My kids are thrilled. Nice little family activity, watching it together.
The picture was nice and clear, and easy to see. No interference or fuzzy images like some cheap dvds I've seen in the past.
I had to buy it, after the way Season Two ended and left us hanging. I'd highly recommend it to others.
What a great season. Red Ribbon and Tien sagas. Very entertaining, very funny. This is worth your buy if you are even lightly considering it.
