Donovan's Reef is a comedy starring John Wayne that was originally released in 1963 and directed by John Ford. John Wayne plays a retired Navy man named Michael who lives a relatively quiet life on an island in the Pacific. He lives in company with his friends, also former Navy men, who are accustomed to spending their days in the bar drinking beer and getting into brawls or scraps unnecessarily. Michael owns the bar and therefore is the appointed ringleader of the group, although he is known to contribute to things getting out of hand. At a given point during Donovan’s Reef, one of Michael's friend's daughters comes into town and he begins to fall in love. Michael decides he wants to leave his brawling days behind and continues to pursue his direct interest. The DVD version of Donovan’s Reef became available on DVD in 2011. The comedy DVD is available for viewing in widescreen and standard and has been remastered for optimal viewing.
