As a long term DMC fan I must attest that I am biased in favor of this series. That said, I did have some problems with this series, but they're minor ones at best.
The Animation Quality: A+
Being that the animation quality is one of the most important aspects of any anime, it's rather important that you be dazzeled and Devil May Cry in blueray, is one series that doesn't dissapoint when it comes to the visuals. The DMC game series has always be a series that prizes itself on flashy visuals and they don't dissapoint.
The Characters: C+
When dealing with the DMC series and games there are only three people of importance that you need to know about, Dante, Trish, and Lady, the rest are generally not worth your time. Moreover is the fact that if you've played DMC 1, 2, & 3, then you know all you need to know about these three. Of course the one dowside to this is one of the most reoccuring characters in this series, Patty Lowel, an annoying child that follows Dante and oddly enough acts like a maid, if you can tollerate her, so much the better.
The Style of the Series: A
Dante is a badass. Trish is a badass. Lady is a badass. There is absolutely no disputing that fact. Dante is a fountain of machismo and cool, so much so that everytime he kills a demon, does a stunt, or pulls out a cheesy-yet-cool one-liner a man is cured of impotency. And the two femme fatals are one thing the series definitly benefits from.
What's more is the fact that the games of DMC have always been proud of the fact that they've had some of the most over the top action sequences imaginable. This is only properly displayed by the very first scene of the first episode, when, que the cheesy joke, Dante walks into a bar, asks for a strawberry sudae, and then promptly kills a group of demons.
But with any good over the top anime, there will be blood shed, and this series is no exception. They seem to pride themselves on the shear volume of blood that is spilt. A person gets a paper cut and they loose a couple drops of blood, a demon is cut in two, and there seems to be a never-ending sanguine shower.
While this series is a bit on the scant side of things, pulling in only a slim thirteen episodes, for the most part, it's time well spent. When you get this series you're getting one thing and one thing only, a good time of mindless entertainment and this is one show that delivers on that. Let's face it, you're watching this show for the entertainment, not to have some great mind or life altering experience happen or have some sort of social message that you would find in other series like Broken Saints. No you're hear to have a good time, and that is one thing you will find in abundance with Devil May Cry the series.
I've been playing Devil May Cry series since the very first came out. I really enjoy the game unfortunatly the animated series did not have that much connection to the character we all grown to like. The series was short and didn't much go into detail on the history of the character.
I really liked DMC4 and anime in general so this box set was a pleasure to add to my collection. The storyline was good, the action, eye candy etc etc.
This dvd is awesome and has lots of action all the episodes are really cool this is the best dvd ever.
I would definitely suggest this one to fans of the DMC games and just anime fans in general and with it being on blu-ray makes it all the better.
