This Dell U2410 is a pleasure to use. It has spectacular color, more than ample brightness, and very good resolution. Best of all the viewing angle is so forgiving (like an expensive CRT was). One does not have to be concerned with the ideal viewing angle for optimum image quality.
I use this monitor for all my computer work (2 computers, 1 monitor, keyboard and mouse) which includes processing photographic images from digital SLR cameras. The photographic processing demands higher than average monitor quality, otherwise what you see is not what you get with the final printed output. This monitor replaced an old 21" CRT monitor that was quite expensive in its day. I tried a cheaper TN panel type 24" monitor first to replace the aging CRT monitor, but it couldn't match the CRT in color or resolution. This U2410 matches the CRT plus has lots more room because of the wide screen format.
The U2410 has several picture modes that should satisfy most users, depending on what their needs are. It even has a game mode that has faster response than the typical IPS type panel. When calibrating the monitor, I observed a slight magenta cast on the right side and cyan cast on the left side. I did not observe this under normal use. Fortunately I have a Spyder calibration device that pretty much eliminated casts and provided even better color. Calibration was a little tricky, but what else is new.
I also looked at the HP LP2475W. It appears to be about equal to the Dell U2410. I bought the U2410 because I found it at a significantly lower cost. Superior monitors are available at much higher costs, but my budget was stretched just to buy this monitor. Now that I have used it for several months, I'm very pleased with its performance and would recommend it to a friend.
This monitor has it all. Awesome brightness, colors, viewing angle. The colors and brightness are quite vivid. And a very nice looking bezel as well. I have been waiting to get a new LCD for some time and I had looked at several recently and just was'nt that impressed. My nephew picked up a U2410 for photograpic editing work and when I saw it, I knew that I had to get one as well. This monitor is NOT a plain vanilla monitor, its a tad more expensive than other 24" displays, but the image quality blew me outta' my chair. If you're looking for great performance at a reasonable price the U2410 is a great choice. Two thumbs up !!
Very screen for my use, which is writing, software development, games -- I'm not a graphics pro. Solid and substantial, with smooth rotation and elevation mechanisms. On screen display is elegant, though the touch sensitive buttons are slightly unresponsive. Main issue has been with quality -- I bought a refurb and have had to have it replaced twice. On the other hand Dell service has been excellent -- both times they have shipped me a replacement immediately. I'd recommend the monitor, just make sure you buy it under warranty.
Color quality important for pre-production photo editing, and the real estate helps with video editing, some of which occasionally goes to broadcast. Better than I had expected it to be from some reviews. Native color really quite good and very close to corrected with X-Rite tools. Very quick warm-up to full brightness, and while I haven't measured actual amp usage the heat generated, indicative of power consumption, seems lower than other 24" monitors I've used.
I like the way the stand works - large stable heavy footprint, ad the height and rotation adjustments easy to use. Cable access is as usual a bit unwieldy, but the cables thread nicely through a large slot in the stand keeping things neat back there. Quick access to all adjustments through the touch buttons works extremely well for me though it is easy to accidently turn them on when moving the monitor as the lower corner is where one just naturally takes hold of the case - just have to get used to it and no big deal to turn of the controls when it happens.
A little pricey even used (though used very lightly it appears), but you do get what you pay for sometimes.
The good: The Dell UltraSharp U2410 has a plethora of connection options and ergonomic features.
The bad: NONE
The bottom line: The Dell UltraSharp U2410 is a feature-rich monitor that performs great while watching movies and playing games.
About $600 for the Dell UltraSharp U2410 gets you a 24-inch, H-IPS monitor with great performance in games and movies, a host of connection options and ergonomic features, and a robust OSD. If you're looking for perfect performance, with great performance and a huge host of useful features, for a decent price, look no further.
